Way ahead of you

Sony quietly having another PS3 era run of blunders. Sadly consoles cost 8 billion dollars now so the degree to which Xbox can capitalize is probably a 16th of what is was in 2005.
I like the mental gymnastic at the other place as to why they wonât play that game anymore. But man, is this such an unexpected news announcement, Iâm really hoping we get some investigative reporting as to what happened internally for Sony to do a complete 180 on one of their most important partnerships with one of the most beloved and acclaimed game directors of our time, and let him go straight to the competition!
Asha is doing some insane Tactical Console Wars Action!
With the explanation from Kojima, I wonder Geoffâs attachment to Sony will dwindle like with Konami. I mean Sony almost done kill his bestieâs game. Maybe heâs fighting his inner soul right now.
I wonder what Sony was seeing that made them cancel this project and then what made Xbox pick it up?
I guess the numbers donât work as a Sony exclusive, but maybe they do work as an Xbox/PC/Game Pass/(Still PS?) game.
More than half a million views and over 28K likes. Oh boy, more will see this the following morning.
Probably that itâs like Death Stranding, unconventional and more experimental than their usual action adventure game, even Kojimaâs name and high review scores couldnât make DS2 sell as high as say Ghost of Yotei, so probably just them reverting to safe math. While Xbox is on a run to build goodwill maybe willing to invest riskly here.
The same thing thatâs happening with the rest of the industry. The nuclear button seems to be everyoneâs favorite. Iâm honestly just thankful that along with all the other downsizing Xbox didnât shadow cancel Kojimaâs OD like they did a lot of the partner publishing projects. I at least hope this means that. Itâd be pretty awkward for them to pick up on project and cancel another.
Demon time incoming
I mean they could if they just took the loss. Or better yet Microsoft stopped being so gung ho on the AI bubble. Itâs not Microsoft is some small indie company that canât afford to hold prices. I mean they took a huge loss on the original Xbox and took a big risk with the 360.
It still doesnât make sense to me how Playstation has nearly Apple level of cultural market dominance and they still fumble at some essential stuff like this, of course some due to economic impacts but they have always struggled to run a business as good as the brand image, if that makes sense.
Iâm sure they are struggling like rest of the industry. Itâs just theyâre trying not to make it look bad aka time it well. I mean we all know those consoles will increase the price soon, but theyâre holding it in. Here, this is basically a sign of their status. Donât be surprised youâll hear more of cancellation or closure fairly soon.
I mean even on their best times the business is not as good as the brand image, thatâs my point. They donât be like Nintendo and Apple where they can do minimum and receive maximum because the brand compels people to pay no matter what.
Maybe, but itâs Kojima and everyone knows unconventional and love of movies is his thing. Itâs not like he hides it either, so I donât expect you partner with him without full knowledge you are going to get some wacky shit. I donât think you sign on to a Kojima project expecting crazy sales, you sign on for a marketing, name drop, artistic piece.
This is still crazy to me.
