Xbox Recommits to Exclusives Despite New Port Announcements

It’s ruffling some feathers online, to say the least…

Well, at least Microsoft remains consistent with their inconsistent messaging, direction and decisions. lmao

It’s funny how Gears and Clockwork will be console exclusive but everything else is fully multiplatform day one with FH 6 later this year on PS5. SMH.

Thus far, every game is still day one on Game Pass Ultimate so im happy. Hoping it stays this way. One thing im trying to find out is if they will still sell the Premium Upgrade for games if you’re an Ultimate subscriber. Where you pay $30 or whatever it is for the early access and expansion(s). Really hoping that they didn’t take this way.

Some great banter on other era. They are having a lot of fun there! I didn’t know so many PlayStation owners were Gears fans… It makes so much sense!

But one could argue…why is State of Decay 3 coming to PS5? I don’t recall that was announced for PS5 before? Senua? Spyro?

Like I decided on before, don’t mess with game pass anymore and I will stay on Xbox. Screw with it and andI’m gone, the games I own aren’t going to keep me around.

Honestly, I think it’s because it genuinely needs it. State of Decay 3 has been in development for years, so i can only imagine how much money was spend to make this game in the first place. I truly do think that sometimes Xbox, or mostly just publishers and studios, really need to learn to use their budgets better and remain that way.

For Senua, it’s obvious the first game was on PlayStation, so I could definitely see why Xbox wants to make sure it’s still available everywhere.

Spyro is a no-brainer, to be honest.

Karma’s a bitch at times. But hey, they did not buy reloaded to the point like Forza, so what right do they have to complain?

Should have bought reloaded then.

Honestly, it is a wait and see because it is still weird that games like SOD were announced when there was no official Playstation announcement previously, so they could have said anything that was announced would still be released to draw a clearer line in the sand.

Because nothings changed lmao. This is still “case by case” and Xbox is still prioritizing healthy revenue & growth as a publisher.

I think it’s a case of those games maybe needing to grow in mindshare, but it is at odds with their statement, and I think they could’ve kept SoD 3 exclusive too. Gears will do well enough on Xbox and PC, plus I think Clockwork will be one of the best games this gen, so hopefully it’ll do well too.

Yeah… I’m not sure this is the strategy I would pursue if it was my decision. But it’s still case by case, like it’s always been. People saying “But they promised everything would be on PS5” are just trying to hold Xbox accountable to their own personal assumptions… like always.

This just feels like when Sharma did the whole posting of “return to Xbox” stuff… where did Xbox go?? Microsoft Gaming was just the parent company entity created to house ABK after it was acquired. They didn’t actually call themselves Microsoft Gaming in public, but on paper and while they were integrating ABK.

Exclusives weren’t gone. Not everything was ported and there’s even been some third party exclusives still. Xbox said case by case and it kept to case by case while clearly prioritizing their games as a publisher to keep with rising costs and adhere to maintaining healthy business profits likely mandated from the top. The same remains true. There were several unannounced games that got PS5 day one platform drops. If we’re to believe insiders than Gears E-Day was planned for PS5 but they decided against it so they could’ve done that for any unannounced game or any game without platforms. That didn’t happen. This isn’t all games except COD or all XGS games or all multiplayer games. It’s still case by case. Sharma is just playing it up as a “return to exclusives” to appease the very loud portion of fans.

Much like the “return to Xbox” I think it’s strategic and it feels a bit corporate to me. I don’t like it. I don’t like the smoke & mirrors feeling of it. I want to confidently feel like I know which direction is heading in and feel like Xbox is confident in that direction. This isn’t that. It just feels wishy washy with them wanting to please everyone including Microsoft shareholders. They need to commit to SOMETHING though regardless of who it’ll piss off (even if that’s me) and then drive full speed ahead. For God’s sake just stop apologizing for a justifying every little decision

Yeah, they still haven’t picked a lane. I think they’ll continue to not pick a lane until the industry just gradually moves toward less and less exclusives.

Why is anyone confused? I really don’t understand. They said ‘case by case’, they clearly have messaging to appease people who are actually wailing about story over what the fuck is actually on their console or not (seriously, gaming chat is not about gaming, it’s about industry metrics… WHY?!), not everything has been ported, and not everything will be.

It’s a meme in its own right now. I feel like I’m in crazy town. Gaming discourse is asinine in extremis.

Play the games or don’t. The end.

Gaming discourse really is. The argument was over Xbox even using logos to clearly state what games are coming to what platforms.

Gonna be hypocritical for a brag. I love that I accurately predicted this: DayOne Community Hangout |OT14| New News? NEW THREAD - #9167 by Titan

Gears of War E day probably won’t get announced as multiplatform and I don’t remember it previously stating a PS release. We’ll see, but I think it wouldn’t benefit the game terribly with how stacked fall is currently and it could easily slot into a brand win. But expecting them to backtrack and unnannounce games as a multiplatform is unrealistic. It’s either they go all in with multiplatform same day launches (which I think will happen gradually for all platforms as consoles continue stagnating) or they continue their mixed “case by case” outlook. Maybe Clockwork Revolution is Xbox & PC only, but Elder Scrolls VI is day one everywhere. Stuff like that.

You called it and I was just surprised like everyone that they did it. Hat’s off to you!

Ballsy move, I would say!

Yep, case by case is enough explanation for anyone, play the games or don’t.

case by case though means a lot of gamers will still wait, I still think they need to be clearer than this, as people that have left/are thinking of leaving the Xbox ecosystem because of the messaging will still be leaning towards leaving if exclusivity messaging isn’t clearer imo.
