Xbox Series X - First impressions

ps4 might have a 20 second boot time if you are in a suspend state and turn on the console. They aren’t cold booting a ps4 in 20 seconds with a 5400 rpm hard drive.

If someone completely unplugs the ps4 from power waits 60 seconds plugs it in (ensures cold boot). Lets the console boot up fully. There is no way its fully up and useable in 20 seconds.

Awesome!

I didn’t get far in the game yet, so that’s great.

I find it strange that there is no first impressions from Game Informer. I thought they are a big media outlet. Did they not get an XSX?

That would be odd considering that big time PlayStation YouTuber YongYea apparently got his.

Thinking of colteastwood and Dealer in times like this. pours Mountain Dew

Are we ever, ever going to see some series X gameplay. Weeks ago we were told MS has heard the complaints about gameplay and we’d see it soon. Yet still nothing and Jeff Grubb suggests the next embargo date is a ways off still and that’s probably still BC stuff.

Come on @XboxP3, you’ve absolutely nailed this launch but seriously some gameplay.

I’ve seen a lot of the first impressions available on Youtube. People are very positive about the build quality and the first feature set on which they could elaborate. Understood that the AutoHDR is the next bit which will be shown. Classic drip feed of info, hopefully building up towards gameplay on the XSX. Can’t wait.

And Sony sent him: none.

People should try wolfenstien on xsx BC testing.

That game has vrr support and uncapped frame rate option.

I will try it out again sometime then which one is it

I’d like to know, also. I can’t play the two before the New Colossus (and haven’t started New Colossus because of it). They are two of a very small number of first person games that bother my eyes. I get a headache after playing for just a short while.

To add examples, I’ve never had problems with Borderlands, Halo, Dying Light, Outer Worlds, Fallout, Skyrim, Ace Combat, Doom 2016 and more.

I’m hoping a 60 fps mode and solid frame pacing will help!

Very positive review from Polygon:

“If the Xbox One X was the rough draft of the potential of backward compatibility, then the Xbox Series X is the real thing. Playing Crackdown on the Xbox Series X is like playing the game as its creators had dreamt: Everything just works. Its frame rate never dips below 60 frames per second as I sprint down a highway, obliterating passing cars with volleys from my rocket launcher. More importantly, the game loads almost instantaneously.”

now we are talking!

60fps Crackdown will be my first game I play on the Series X. And I don’t care what anybody says!

I was beginning to think I was the only crack[down] head. I see their flaws, but I’ve enjoyed all 3 games immensely. The first Crackdown may very well be my favorite 360 game ever. I’d NEVER experienced vertigo in a game until Crackdown and the anxiety of “will I reach that next roof at my agility level?”

Co-op was a blast with my kid and outside of the main load (or dying) there were no load times!

I intend to revisit all 3 games on my Seriex X, too!

You are not alone, Agent :+1:

Fond memories of chasing down those agility orbs… I should try 2 and 3.

Watch from 7:30 for wolfenstien colous

It’s more of a fixed 4k but uncapped frame rate version on x1x.

Don’t know if it will go up the 60 mark.

Just something that occurred to me while listening to a podcast about series x first impressions.

With quick resume, do we know if there’s a way to manage what’s in resume state? For example, the option of having your favourite game locked in a resume state.

Does it warn you when a game will be kicked off the list when launching a new game?
