…, and 4 above explain a huge percentage of the non-subscribed players. I really wonder, in particular, how many PS customers are free-to-play only (or mainly). I really don’t engage with FTP games at all, but clearly most of the biggest games in the world have that model. I wouldn’t be surprised if something like 30-50% of PS customers never even buy a game (or buy only 1 a year) because all their time is in FTP games. So, which customer base would you rather have if you were the platform holder? 120 million customers where 45 million are engaged or 50 million customers where 45 million are engaged? Anyway, that’s what was rattling around in my head at 3:30 am this morning. I probably need to get outside and touch grass once the sun comes out. Hope you are all having a great holiday season.

It kinda sucks that my country Malaysia doesn’t support Xbox game pass for console. It’s only available for PC. Many want to switch to Xbox for the value proposition but there’s really no support in the country at all. Xbox rather lose out which is sad. I’m enjoying my PC gamepass here though.

It won’t change the conversation for those who believe that console sales are the defining metric but to see 2 platinum, 3 silver and 5 bronze games come from Microsoft owned studios goes to show the Xbox approach does work.

Grounded is $30 and doesn’t have DLC last I remember, so that project must’ve been such a huge win on the balance sheet

This happens in a lot of gaming subs though like the one for Starfield.

Yeah, that one is a huge bummer. Not only cause I wish it was a more positive place to hang out and read/write about Starfield, but because I know Bethesda pays attention to it. Todd Howard wrote a long message specifically for them when the game launched.

And before launch it was a fun place to visit, with lots of speculation and analysis of screenshots and trailers and concept art. But now it’s a toxic cesspool with people either outright misrepresenting aspects of the game, or blowing things way out of proportion à la invisible wall-gate…

Just found out about /r/NoSodiumStarfield, which as the name suggests is a Starfield-focused subreddit that don’t allow haters.
