People going in expecting Avowed to be like Bethesda games are going to be disappointed although it would be cool if they were able to implement mods or UGC like grounded is
The gaming media is the tumor of the gaming industry( with some exception of course). This clickbait, console warring, and rage baiting culture they cultivate is the reason why this hobby is becoming toxic to both players and devs themselves.
Also, no one can out Bethesda Bethesda. Not Obsidian, not Larian, not CDPR, this really grinds my gears. THEY ARE NOT MAKING THE SAME TYPE OF RPG!!! Bethesda makes its own unique spin on it, it is not a BioWare clone #25 like people want it to be. FNV was not a better Bethesda game than Fallout 3 either, even if FNV had better writing, narrative etc., why? Because it didn’t have Bethesda’s signature simulated world with great exploration it.
VGC’s headlines for their articles are even more shitty now than they were just a few weeks ago. What’s with them thinking every game needs to be this or that OR that every game will be this or that? Like, WTF?
Stellar Blade being delayed to 2024 I already knew months ago so I don’t know how this is news to anyone especially on December 28th, 2023. But whatever.
What do you guys think of AI? After seeing journalist such as Jez and big media outlets like New York Times lashing out on it, do you think it’s a technology that causes more harm than good or people are just having a natural reaction to society changing impact it has? I believe we should not impede technological progress, but at the same time, people should not be replaced my AI, but to complement them, but I don’t know if that will be the case because big technological breakthroughs can make the old ways obsolete, which can lead to people losing their jobs and/or force to adapt.
I think AI will be a great technology that will help with a lot of things in the future, but companies that are pushing AI as hard as Microsoft is need to try to set some boundaries, like how they have started talks to do so with the use of AI in gaming. As for NYT, they recently(like a day before they sued Microsoft and OpenAI) got a deal from Apple to use their news articles(which, the fact that they think their content should be about making as much money as possible and not about reporting the news and educating the public about the current goings in the world says a lot) to train their AI for like 50 million. The only thing NYT wants is to get Microsoft to do the same, Jez is Jez and he’s pretty weird, but like I said above Microsoft needs to set some boundaries(mostly they’re going to use money to grease some hands to get things moving) to get people to be more open to the idea.
It’s inevitable and people need to get used to it and adapt
I don’t wan’t to see people lose jobs but the truth is people have been made obsolete by technology in virtually every field over 100s of years but often as old jobs get redundant, new jobs get created in order to utilise new technology
Obviously I don’t want to see the technology abused but people are acting like devs will no longer be required because of this, AI is good but it’s not THAT good
They need people to build it, mould it, work with it in whatever field they are in whether it’s testing, art, programming etc but there are simply far too many benefits for both big and indie devs
I wonder when they are going to reveal the new Xbox controller? If the leaked roadmap is to be believed, it would launch before the summer showcase so…
