The last five Atlus game announcements have been at Xbox… I honestly have no idea why anyone has any doubt about Persona 6 ![]()
I don’t see Persona 6 anywhere else than at the Xbox stage besides Sony doesn’t do shows anymore and Persona under them didn’t flourish. Nintendo could but they have their own Jrpg studio.
Xbox going hard on Asia and Jrpgs. We get Genshin and the mana games in game pass and won’t be surprised to see other Mihoyo games make it to Xbox. I won’t be surprised if Zenless Zero is announced for Xbox at the Keighley’s.
May actually be cheaper from Target because they have the same sale price, but I’m also showing a coupon to get 10% off tech stuff and normal 5% off for red card. Your mileage may vary.
I just finished reading the “How PlayStation 5 Pro lays the groundwork for PS6 and beyond” article by Richard from DF and it reads like a PR damage control piece trying way too hard to oversell the importance of PSSR while at the same time trying to undersell the work that Xbox has put into BC IMO.
His first main point of defending/hyping the PS5 Pro/PSSR (which is a bit too early to do, isn’t it?) is that PS6 owners will be blessed with superior backwards compatibility games due to PS5 Pro, maybe my memory is not good but were they making the same point back in 2020-2021 for the Series X? were the superior One X versions a notable plus for the Xbox platform? because all I remember is DF making videos about being disappointed that some One X profile games dropped 2-3 frames on SX…also about the general BC in both consoles Richard is stating that “PS5 back-compat worked almost as well as the Xbox equivalent”, how the hell is the “PS5 BC working almost as well” when it was far more limited in terms of improvements like FPS boost, Auto HDR and of course not taking advantage of the much faster storage? let alone that the SX also has 300+ more gen 7 backwards compatible games (plus the small OG Xbox BC catalogue). ![]()
And of course the main point of the article is how “revolutionary” (!?) PS5 Pro is by bringing AI upscale into consoles I guess, as he is saying in the article Nvidia is doing this since 2018 with the 20xx series and I am pretty sure that we can all see that AI upscale and techniques like DLSS is the future and not throwing more raw horsepower into hardware so how exactly is a well accepted fact at this point something so note worthy? especially when it is too early to tell how good PSSR will be. Was there any doubt that future console hardware would not go the AI upscale way? it is clearly the next logical step for the next generation consoles…hell Switch 2 is coming out next year and it’s doing exactly that (to no one’s surprise).
Lastly I find it funny that he is using F1’24 as the example of what PS5 Pro is capable of and not a 1st party game…but I guess this wouldn’t be a surprise seeing how anemic was the PS4 Pro support from most of Sony’s 1st party studios last gen.

Don’t even get me started on the full-court press the media is attempting, in order to appease their overlord… just look at the IGN front page the other day. I’ve never seen such a perfect encapsulation of how the gaming community is at direct odds with the narrative the media are trying to spin, and never such a great case to be made about a certain bias/collusive relationship with a certain platform holder:
Also, no offense to Nvidia but Xbox introduced an “upscaling” method a bit before they did with the Heutchy Method. Something I wish we could have seen more broadly applied, but another innovation Xbox doesn’t get nearly enough credit for, especially when Sony’s bare-minimum efforts are considered revolutionary… I couldn’t imagine writing that without a sense of irony.
Every game running on UE5 has traversal stutter excluding Hellblade 2 on consoles. Interesting…
Not available in Canada which is somewhat infuriating. The controller plus fire stick bundle looked irresistible and it was on sale in the US as well. But not available in my country.
Sorry to hear that
it’s annoying when things are only in certain areas…

Obsidian is like “We’re not the same” to other companies.
Maybe all of this is true, but the amazing part to me is that it is all conjecture. Sony hasn’t shared anything about the hardware specifics other than generalities.

Nintendo must have seen the lawsuit on Palworld as their magnus opus.
Well, anyone with the emulator still on their system better make some back ups in case of future windows updates issues.

Seems like they’re going out to ensure the next Nintendo console gets a sold dig in the market.

Kinda feels like Nintendo's "internet guy" woke up this morning and decided to put in some work. Got a copyright claim on an old-ass video that just happened to contain about 40 seconds of Super Mario 1 music.
Might be time to stop using the wii shop music

Makes sense, it could be likely they’re using the same OS, but not developing for the old hardware like Microsoft with Xbox One currently.

I wonder if Nintendo is going to go back to how they were before with YouTube videos?
This is sad for a dozen reasons (especially what Nintendo is ultimately doing to games preservation), but I’m especially sad because Russ is hands-down, the best emulation device reviewer out there and his guides have saved me countless hours.

It’s still going to be hacked in the most hilarious of ways lol. And very quickly

Probably the industry is tough right now and Nintendo isn’t immune in the XB2+1 podcast Florian talked about Nintendo pretty much building on a bunch of patents to address the palworld situation and maybe to look tough for the industry.
If their Switch successor doesn’t hit then they are done. The risks are really high. looking at things I’d say Microsoft has set things up well to their benefit. They’ve disrupted the market and will again with the Nextgen successor.
