We don’t have strict moderation on what can or can’t be discussed here though. Asking people not to bring negativity surrounding other sites shouldn’t really be seen as strict moderation because it isn’t. In no way does complaining about other communities or sites bring any form of construction conversation to this site. We are better than that.

I mean personally I see nothing wrong with bringing up various communities or forums in fleeting discussion… Resetera in particular is generally regarded as the largest gaming based forum on the web so of course it will come up now and again.

Anyway, I won’t clog up community chat any further with this topic.

… That comes in no small part from the communal understanding that we are somehow above that “bullshit” if we continue to invoke that bullshit by watching it unfurl yet again from the stalls, its no different to being there. Personally, I agree with the sentiment that in the general nothing good can come from discussing, ERA, GAF, the worst parts of twitter or anything else, sure linking a post somewhere else for information should be free game, but to point and laugh or stir up ill feeling or some kind of “superiority” nah. We should concentrate our efforts here and on making this place different, on making it welcoming. I don’t mean this toward you steve, you’re lovely, just using your post as a springboard, and Im a bit touched and weepy tongiht, so felt compelled to write from the heart.

I just wanted to add after my last novel (out soon thanks to Random house), that I count myself guilty of this too. In my real life I have real abuse that it is very hard to both bring up and let go, so I’m all to keen to get that final kick in. But its just not healthy. ERA and other places suffer from their size, its impossible to moderate fairly, it attracts bad actors deliberately stirring up trouble and its impossible to ignore.

ERA is not that bad, people are bad. The more people the more bad. They try their hardest on ERA, and they often fail because there is so much data to parse and intent to decipher. And when they fail us it hurts because we can be hurt, we feel the “betrayal”, those bad actors don’t care so they don’t, we shouldn’t let them infest us here either, not even a little.

Yeah pretty much. Just don’t bring any negativity, bitching, venting, drama, etc here. We all can have our issues with whatever community, no community is perfect (besides ours ) but it’s honestly not fair to negatively characterize, generalize, or rant about another site and/or community here. It brings nothing good to our forums, our discussions, and in the end makes us look worse.

For sure, we get they will come up every now and again, but when it does, it doesn’t have to be in a negative light. If it truly adds to the conversation in a positive or constructive way? Sure, fair game. Talking about how an entire community is biased or whatever, for example, no that is not something we want in our forum.

I was driving all day and missed this discussion. This site was kinda born out of some of the frustrations of the other place. So I get the feeling to want to vent about it but this place is new and most importantly ours. So we don’t need to bring that shit over here. I love it here and we honestly don’t need the bad energy. I sometimes am guilty of this too and I wanna shit talk but I think about it and just honestly let it go. It’s not worth shitting up here. Yeah most of us came from there but I think we can make here the best place it can be. A lot of you do that already and I’m thankful for you. That’s all I have to say about a topic that’s been beat to death. Thank you for reading and you are awesome!

I agree we should keep the negativity of the other places to a minimum here. If anything because we don’t need to encourage people registering here to “defend” the other places or to cause issues.

The focus should be to have a positive place for Xbox and to be able to discuss negative things honestly without any ulterior motives. I hope the same for Playstation also just on the flip side of the same coin.
