XboxEra Community Hangout |OT2| Cracking down on shitposting

You must mean their marketing team for all those buzzwords…

Ultimate temper your E3 part 2.

-Elden Ring shows up, it’s GaaS, 4 areas at launch with more to come on a 8 year plan.

Nothing is being taken away from Xbox gamers if Game Pass streaming lands on Switch. There is no “devalue” here. If the service launched on the nvidia shield and Switch, it would be no different than the name plastered on the device.

I disagree, nobody would buy a Nvidia Shield instead of an Xbox, many people already buy a Switch instead of an Xbox, more people would do that if GP would be there. Imo it’s as simple as that. Why giving Nintendo a cut in the first place when there are billions devices out there, honestly when dealing with these situations I don’t trust much MS, they often choose the wrong dice out of greed.

You can disagree but you’re basing your thought process on assumptions alone. How do you know no one would buy a shield instead of an xbox, or just use their TV instead of an Xbox, or their phone instead of an Xbox? You don’t know that. If someone is only interested in access Xbox games through xCloud, the device is then made irrelevant. That’s the entire point of cloud gaming: to be platform agnostic. It’s only because you want to push a console war where for one to win, the other has to lose, that you think the Switch is different.

Can’t you say the same with Xcloud on iOS and Android, and some to be smart Tvs

General purpose devices vs direct console competitors, it’s as simple as that imo.

Makes no sense when the result is exactly the same in the end. It makes no difference if someone plays Starfield on their Samsung TV or their Nintendo Switch. In either scenario they aren’t buying an Xbox.

Conversely, in both scenarios, if someone wanted a better, more premium experience, they would still have the same reason to buy an Xbox when streaming on either device.

Stop looking at the console space a zero sum game. It’s not.

Xbox would put it there in a second, yes.

I have no idea what you’re talking about, it just sounds like list wars nonsense to me. What do I care if others get to stream game pass?

Well, on the contrary the average number of console buyers is the same since 20 years (200M ca.), if MS was willing to lose even more grip in that lucrative space (because console users are bigger spender than other gaming users, it’s proved), why they have engineered 2 next gen consoles? I find it strange to say the least. They can push their cloud endeavour without meddling with Nintendo or Sony, it’s so a hot take?

It’s an “I don’t understand what Xbox is now” take, at the very least.

That’s not entirely relevant to the conversation though. Every generation we see new console, mobile, PC, and now soon, stream gamers. Putting Game Pass streaming on the Switch won’t change that. Game Pass on the switch won’t change the fact that if someone wants the best Xbox gaming experience on console, they’ll have to get a Xbox console. Simple as that. Keep in mind we’re talking about streaming here, not playing locally on a device.

I disagree, outside pr speeaches the recent epic trial shows that MS still views Nintendo and Sony as competitors, so embracing them is risky imo, considering that another bad shift in mindshare could be catastrophic for Xbox.

I still don’t understand why giving crap to Nintendo, which clearly wouldn’t give crap to Xbox, on the contrary, would dance on its grave. MS should focus on doing better than them instead of embracing them imo.

Just gonna give my last take on this topic for today.

I understand Microsoft’s strategy of many devices becoming gateway’s to xbox I just think they can achieve that without bolstering the offerings of their 2 console space competitors which is small on the grand scheme of things. Also Nintendo gives nothing back to xbox so this whole one way street relationship does nothing for the xbox console base. We arent getting Nintendo games, switch pass or anything similar of value.

Thats it.

As it was mentioned before, this is list war nonsense. Xbox is still better for Xbox gamers, even with streaming on Switch. There’s no arguing that playing Starfield at uncompressed 4K natively on a Series X will provide a better experience than playing at a compressed 1080p with additional latency.

So no matter what, MS is doing exactly what you say they should be doing.
