Go watch The Outer Worlds and imagine an upgrade of the game . Thats Avowed .

I know :sob:, $1500 graphics card vs what a $200 graphics card in the series x

That and these tech demos do so little else that they aren’t really representative of what you’d get with all of the other logic and considerations that come into play when you have an actual game.

Not done with Xenoblade 3 but so far my expectations are no way met. Will give a full opinion on it once done but so far pretty disappointed.

These UE5 short clips are raising high expectations which will not be meet in actual game scenario

Especially not in an AA game…

Yeah, catchy branding is important. iDied :joy:

Avowed won’t look as good as that clip but I think it should look significantly better than The Outer Worlds. That game was made on a shoe string budget by a small team (75 devs) and still looked pretty decent. Avowed’s team is twice the size and will probably have a significantly higher budget too, plus it will be next gen only.

Most of UE games won’t look like this until the late of the gen . Because unlike tech demos, games have bunch of other stuff that game needs…Like gameplay for example, AI and so on.

And of course run on various machines with decent enough FPS

Although it will probably look a lot better, I think that some people should just have it in their minds that that Avowed will look exactly like TOW so as to not be crushingly disappointed later when it doesn’t come close to measuring up to a UE5 tech demo.

Yeah this is correct, once you factor in all the other systems at play that demand resources in a game not to mention the practicalities of development and how things need to be designed around environmental readability and all these other factors - I don’t think we’re gonna get hyper real environments like this video is attempting in video games any time soon.

UE5 tech demo absolutely not, agreed on that. But I don’t think there is any doubt it will look better than ToW, a lot I would hope, much bigger budget, more time for development. But that’s solely visuals, scope remains to be seen. But we did have a job posting not long ago and it was about Avowed and open world.

We also heard from NateDrake who said he had seen the game that he was very happy with how it looked. But that doesn’t tell us much. It would be nice if they reveal it properly at TGA, but if not then surely next E3. So then finally, finally we can stop speculating but especially build hype unintentionally based on insiders.

There is also the fact that graphics has very little to do with how good an RPG is. There’s so much focus on unimportant things sometimes, like with the Starfield reveal at not-E3 where people complained about superficial things.

With Avowed (and Starfield) it will be the stories, the characters, the lore, the exploration, the choices and consequences, the immersion and roleplaying, player character development and even combat and general gameplay above muh grAphicS in the list of important factors.

This is why Hellblade 2 and a couple of other Xbox 1st part games need to come out and wow the graphics junkies, thus assuaging the worries about the Xbox Series X this gen, so that the RPGs can be “left in peace” and be evaluated for the most part just on the things you mentioned.

Yes, exactly. I’ve said it a million times, but gameplay will always take precedent to graphics for me. I can forgive a game for having “PS2” graphics if it’s fun to play or offers me an overall enjoyable experience.

I know some people prefer it the other way and derive their pleasure from amazing visuals, but I call those people weirdos.
