Looks sick but man I suck at Soulsbourne games. Will still give it a shot though. Don’t shoot me but I hope it has a n easy mode.

I don’t really suck at them but find most of it very tedious and not fun.

It is not.

No it’s not - something from their 2017 Amnesia Fortnight. I THINK it’s possible to watch that part without getting Pscychonauts 2 spoilers.

If it a true soulslike it should not have any difficulty mode. That is the whole point of soulslike. Get good or don’t play it if you don’t want to rage quits lol.

How would an easy mode ruin that for you? If I had an easy mode for the boring design of running through the same monsters I’ve allready killed every time I die, and then normal difficulty for the bosses that would be awesome.

Im betting it won’t, it just won’t. That is what differentiate Soulslike game from many other. I agree that a difficulty mode ruin nothing, they just won’t add it though.

Imagine having difficulty sliders for different things like mobs and bosses, you could tailor the experience to your liking. Options are never a bad thing!

Souls games are not necessarily hard, you get bored before you get angry. At least that’s my experience.

Souls games difficulty is extremely exaggerated and is largely trial and error, once you know what’s ahead of you it’s not really much more challenging than most games out there

Souls difficulty elitists would get absolutely murked in something like Ninja Gaiden

Again, won’t happen. No difficulty or other accessibility options is a part of the soulslike experience.

Honestly Souls games already include some level of player choice when it comes to difficulty it wouldn’t be that hard for them to lean into that more to make a more approachable experience for people who want it. Like you can go into a boss fight with multiple summons to help you out and whether or not you do so can often come down purely to how the player wants to be challenged (but this comes with the drawback of opening you up to invaders).

I think they could make an “easy mode” by expanding further on this and giving players more flexibility to summon multiple helpers AI or otherwise with less restrictions and drawbacks. Elden Ring does this to a degree with the summoning bell - but you are very often restricted to using it when the developers want you to use it. I think you could do a lot for an easy mode just by expanding on this and having less restrictions.

I don’t think anyone would be forced to use these options though? Literally nothing would change for someone who wants to play it the old way.

Yes, there are a lot of ways to make it more fun for more people. Great examples, it could be integrated much more into the game like that.

what makes the games good is you dont havea choice, your either good enough or not. Falled order had a choice and look at how few people beat it on hard. if they would of just made it have no difficulty setting I bet it would have reviewed even better. Having a difficulty setting makes it feel like a knockoff

I dont like that people push for difficulty settings in souls games. like there are lots of games that have difficulty settngs and hand holding. the attraction of these games is they dont

I really don’t understand who would force anyone to play on an easier difficulty though? What’s wrong with options? How does that impact your experience of the game?

They were heavily rumored to be working on a multiplayer game

This sounds neat, we need more games focused on cool physics

I know what you are saying. It just that like 90 percent of soulslike game have no fancy options settings or anything. They just drop you into it world and you figure things out on you’re own. Noob to Veteran alike, it does not matter. That where the get good meme for the new players to souslike come in lol.

That has been the formula since original Demon Souls. It won’t change now. Elden Ring sold a shit ton, people just can’t get enough of the soulslike formula.

Since when trial and error isn’t part of every challenging game? are you implying that when you first encounter the IS Ninja enemies in NG Black there isn’t “trial and error” involved? you have to learn their patterns to kill them consistently and you will die a lot in the process…isn’t this what trial and error is?

It’s being said many times here but there is a difficulty slider in the Souls games via the co-op and the build that you choose. Elden Ring is the best in this, you can tailor the experience however you like. That being said you have to find the game interesting enough first, if you find it boring then I guess it won’t matter anyway.

Elden Ring is definitely the most forgiving as far as I can tell, a good step in the right direction.
