Aight, welcome aboard! I’ll put you on the leaderboard on Monday, that’s the weekly update.
It’s not easy if you push too far, at least not solo. You have to do things outside of the missions to build up your character’s skills and arsenal, as well as upgrading the home base to stay on top of things. I died a lot!
Yeah, really enjoying it so far, the different characters, the great voice acting and music and puzzles that at least make sense. Can’t stand it when in adventure games they have you combining shit for puzzles that make zero sense.
Not like I really needed ANOTHER one of these games but started playing during the free play days thing and really like my team and research and stuff so… Yeah.
Dying Light: The Following +0.5
I finally got around to beating this expansion pack, and man, this is how you do DLC! A meaty sized map with vehicles to help you traverse the world. Cool story that ends right where the new entry takes off.
Days Gone +1
Loved it! A good mix of The Walking Dead and Sons of Anarchy. Played it at a buttery smooth 144 FPS, which made the combat feel amazing, especially landing those slo-mo headshots. The story is fantastic, and it looks incredible. No wonder PlayStation games cost so much to develop. Very underrated game.
Dying Light: The Following is what got me to give the base game of Dying Light a second chance in 2016. Glad I did because I ended up loving the game and the expansion. Love Dying Light 2 even more. Haven’t played The Beast yet though.
My 2019 game of the year and my dream open world zombie game come true. Absolutely love Days Gone!! Still want a sequel (along with The Order: 1886 and Ryse; Son of Rome) that I will most likely never get.
I have nothing to add because I keep playing and beating games that I have already beat before.
Just finished Fallout 4 in Survival mode, played through RE3 Remake again, Dino Crisis on PS1, and am almost done with Resident Evil Remake (Chris Playthrough).
I have been completely absent from the board for months - but just wanted to pop in to say I am still alive and will be participating in the challenge again this year.
With that said, my game playing time has gone almost to zero lately, so I’m not sure how many completions I can get. But I enjoy seeing what everyone else is playing - so it’s worth sticking around for that alone.
+1 - Final Fantasy: Pixel Remaster (XSX) - I never beat this, despite playing it in its original form and owning it on PSX and GBA, so I figured I’d finally start running through the full series on Xbox since picking them up a while back.
I’m glad I did; while the gameplay, story, and overall game flow is archaic by today’s standards, the bones are still solid and the work done on the Pixel Remasters, especially from a musical score perspective, is fantastic.
It’s short by today’s JRPG standards as well, but that’s almost what makes it so enjoyable. I’m thinking of finally completing the copies I’ve owned on GBA and PSX (I & II: Dawn of Souls and FF: Origins, respectively)…
+0 Dredge (Game Pass) +0.5 Dredge: The Pale Reach DLC +0.5 Dredge: The Iron Rig DLC
Amazing game, really got into collecting all the fish (got all 230 from the base game and DLCs) and got every achievement - think I’ve put 30 to 40 hours in!
The puzzles etc where they exist can be fun, but most of all the sense of freedom, the intrigue of each new area / pursuit and the overall story are great - it’s a really chill game if you want it to be (and you can turn off the random stuff at night or in certain areas) as you could always just hang in The Marrows and fish only in the day lol.
Nice little kid friendly game about restoring a wildlife reserve, photographing animals and a petition against building an evil luxury building on a idyllic mediterranean island.
