It’s insane to me how much fuck shit Nintendo gets away with when it comes to the gaming media. We’d have a thousand hitpieces and angry Youtube rants over this kind of thing by the end of the week if MS pulled this kinda shit as regularly as Nintendo does when it comes to gaming. (Not to say MS is above doing this kinda thing.
Sik on principle won’t do it, but these guys need to be called out on this bullshit. Does the review have a comment column? Point their bias out. Make them explain their score.
CRAZY that they got rejected in Japan yet the USA let some of those patents pass. Insane. Hopefully this starts to kills the very idea of this and buries the tomb in an ocean so it can’t happen again though. Japan was the country people expected to go along with the suit because it of how big Nintendo and Pokémon is there.
Thought it was just me. I clicked on the battlefield 6 battle Royale ad and nothing happened. I wonder if Azure is being stretched thin with the AI stuff now. Ironic considering the earnings call is around this same time.
Some other services also had trouble, so it’s not necessarily related to services provided.
And it’s beyond frustrating when gamers and gaming media refuse to acknowledge how damaging the preferential treatment they give Nintendo is. We are GOING to have $80 games sooner than later now because of Nintendo. Game preservation is terrible in large part due to Nintendo. Nintendo games and hardware are so expensive compared to other games and hardware for how much they cost to make, and yet they are consistently the only golden boy.
The fact that this patent nonsense is even being allowed to happen without Nintendo getting crucified by everyone is REALLY dangerous and creates a platform for more of this crap to happen in the future. I’m not saying Nintendo is to blame for everything, but they’re to blame for everything: they are my personal “Thanks Obama.” Nintendo made me kill my wife, Nintendo gave my cat cancer, Nintendo stole my car and drove it through a freeway at 100mph.
Seriously though, Microsoft doesn’t do this crap because they’re under intense scrutiny from governments, competitors, and users. Everything done to their default settings is scrutinized. Like IIRC they had to unbundle teams from office because it was unfair to companies like slack (or at least that was a serious case brought up). And I’m not saying that’s a bad thing; I’m pointing out that this should be how EVERY company is treated ESPECIALLY market leaders. Even other big tech companies like Apple, Google, and Amazon are allowed to get away with so SO much more in their not-so-little and very public facing monopolies. Smartphones are I think more used than Laptop and Desktop PCs now, and yet we’re only now trying to open up ios and android to more storefronts and less strict rules (trying to create a platform as open as windows). Except courts and regulators aren’t doing much and the general public either doesn’t care or have actual bought into it being better that companies like Apple have a straight up monopoly and that Google and Apple can act like mafia bosses. It’s insane and so frustrating because it could all be better if people just used basic sense and treated all these companies with the same scrutiny. Instead of buying into this weird post social media company loyalist “US vs them” and all this bias. People will even try to defend Apple’s monopoly by point not to Microsoft’s windows where the store cut is 12% and any dev or publisher can ignore the store entirely and there’s other storefronts, but Xbox consoles which sell (for Ely) at a loss for subsidized hardware at $300 to $500, sell somewhere between 25 million & 80 million every 5 to 7 year hardware generation, only sell games and movies (formerly), and have sub 100 million active users across generations. Like yeah, that’s comparable to the iPhone. Not like smartphones like iphones are embedded in our daily lives now and facilitate everything from commerce to basic security
.
Random buy anyone else see Grammarly is rebranding to Superhuman? I was checking windows central for anything and that immediately stole my attention. What’s with these name changes recently? Are they letting the AI generate it’s own name? I want the bubble to pop mainly because this is getting embarrassing. And people make fun of Xbox for its naming sense. Who’d guess that in 2025 The Xbox Series X gets point for actually describing something and not just using the vague project name like, “Prometheus” or something.
Just beat Silent Hill F last night. The game is a masterpiece imo and might be my favorite in the series. Probably going to do multiple playthroughs to mop up the rest of the achievements/endings.
Also anyone here check out the new Double Dragon? Played the shit out of the double dragon games as a kid with my brother. Would love to play the series again with him.
Too many games. If Microsoft would confirm the expansion cards will work with the next gen Xbox, then I’d honestly take the plunge and upgrade my 1tb Seagate card to the 2tb or fabled 4tb.
“thank you for your engagement”
this will not change anything. it is what it is.
I get you on that. It’s a lot of money for such a thing and it’s still possible to work without an expansion card. But that’s in my case, but if you for example want multiple CoD games on it and several other bigger games it will be full in no time. Still it surprises me to this day how many games I can really get on the internal SSD.
I’m fine with the expense as long as I get the use out of it. I bought the 1TB expansion card at launch and it’s been a godsend. My problem is just not knowing if I drop multiple hundreds on the 2 or 4 and all of a sudden in 1 - 2 years the product is useless to me (if I upgrade to next Gen and it has full backwards compatibility, I won’t be playing on the Series consoles anymore). I feel like with the next gen Xbox, Microsoft will follow the industry and let you get a screwdriver and expand it yourself. But I’d like it if they kept the proprietary expansion card as an option. I like just plugging it in, and I don’t think it’s a storage solution that should just be abandoned.
Oh I hear you on squeezing space out. Honestly even on the Series S the 1tb + internal is all I need. I don’t play COD and I just have to go in and delete the games I’m not currently playing every now and then. I killed my darlings and the Outer Worlds 2 is downloading (probably done now). So it’s not a real issue, but I’d be willing to tank the expansion for oogles of storage I probably won’t even realistically use all of if I knew the neXtBox had a slot for it.
Glad to hear that you enjoyed it, it’s the next game I will play! and since we’re talking about Silent Hill…where the hell is the Xbox version of SH2R? the supposedly 1 year exclusivity period is over and we’ve heard nothing (besides Dusk saying that it’s indeed coming soon) though it kinda makes sense to not releasing it now because it will cannibalize SHf’s sales. Hopefully it will be a shadow drop at the rumored by Jez Partner Preview next month. ![]()
I believe it will come whenever the new DLC releases. But perhaps we will get a sneak at next month rumored Partner Preview.
It will probably be a Play Any Where title that makes sense dropping at the preview event as it is supposed to be a Play Anywhere focused event.
