Again? Oof. Never a good word.

Looking forward to jumping back in to AC. It’s been at least a year.

Great video from these guys, as is the norm. It’s really important to call out Nvidia and all the reviewers/channels hawking MFG (there’s a certain one that a certain site loves that to tout that just loves to shill for Nvidia.)

The rest of the video is great, especially the discussion on the potential new X3D chip. Posted here because it’s a general discussion beyond just the tech side, but also the ethical side of how the media and review sites represent information.

It’s always hilarious to me when I finally take a gander outside of what I know to be quality, to take a look at what all the media and YouTubers are hawking… in this case, buying a Razer product after not buying anything from them for a decade because of their shit quality and terrible support: the Razer V3 Wolverine. I couldn’t tell you how the actual controller is because as soon as it connected with its archaic USB dongle (sorry, Direct WiFi will always be superior, and this case further proves it), the Razer software I was told by all to install immediately required a firmware update.

All seemed fine and the wonderful progress bar even made its way to its eventual home of 100%… only for nothing to happen for about ten minutes, at which point the software presented me with the most obtuse and worthless error message (it literally stated in the error message “that the dongle may have lost focus”). Now the dongle completely fails to work (likely because its firmware become corrupted during its idiotic firmware process) and it’s completely useless to me as a wired controller when I could have easily bought an Elite 2 Core for far less. So yeah, it’s about what I expect from most third-party hardware.

Ironic that all four of my Elite controllers, one of which is a V1, are still functioning at 100%, meanwhile the lauded Razer V3 Pro doesn’t even work upon first use. Bravo

I didn’t have smooth experience either. The mini directions sheet was tucked underneath the bottom most casing. I had to find the software to install myself as well.

When I did manage to get it hooked up via a USB-C to Razer USB A dongle, it never detected the dongle in Windows 11. Then when it ran the update it firmware flashed the Controller only. That then shifted it into a state of not working with the Dongle on the Xbox Console. It would only worked via wired cable.

I went through a couple different efforts and finally got the Windows Software to detect the USB Dongle and update its firmware. Finally after doing that did the controller work Wirelessly on the Console.

Really horrible Software Experience from the start. Required a lot of effort to get it working again. It should be impossible to get into a state where the dongle and controller dont work together. It should be able to do all the updating direct from the console too.

If you still have it, try updating the dongle again. Also try updating the controller at the same time as the dongle. Also try updating the controller without the dongle updating. Stupidest crap ever.

Hearing that your Elite 1’s are still solid is great. The Elite 3 will probably be my first elite (when it comes out) and I was worried with people saying the quality and longevity of the Elite controllers is bad.

Had a similar experience not to mention how expensive this thing is. I’m just going to be sticking to the elite from now on.

I’ve never tried their console peripherals, but all of my razer keyboards, mice and headsets have all failed miserably after a short amount of time. I feel lucky that out of a dozen or so accessories (guess I’m a slow learner!), only my cheap wireless Razer Atheris is still working. My wife and I loved their MMO mouse when we played wow (which is all she still plays to this day) but we switched to Corsair and haven’t looked back since!

I heard good things on the Wolverine, at least in terms of how well it performs (when it works I guess).

Oh, it works great like you said when it works the problem is the dongle. As it is the elite is now much cheaper which I recommend.

I wouldn’t recommend anything other than the Elite at this point and I’ve tried almost all the third-parties on Xbox and PS4 that were supposedly “quality” (Gamesir, Razer, Scuf, etc.) and not a single one of those pieces of shit lasted more than a year, or had a bevy of other issues. Meanwhile, as mentioned, every single first-party controller I have (between them all, about 60, I collect) and not a single Xbox controller has had issues for me, including any of my Elites.

Is this the pets that I saw being announced? Because I saw the announcement, I was wondering why the it took so long to add them.
