Haven’t played it just yet, but will start soon. This here is great news.

The other big game of the quarter was Mafia: The Old Country, which beat the firm’s internal expectations and Zelnick says proves there’s a market for narrative games done well.

“What we suspected was confirmed,” he said. “Which is just… if you give consumers a great narrative experience that’s a lot of fun, somewhat contained, and at a fair price, then you can have the perfect result.”

GTA VI

In an interview with The Game Business, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said: “When we set a date, we really do believe in it. We said when we set the last date, if a game requires more polish to be the best possible version of itself, then we will give that game more time. And that’s exactly what happened. We feel really good about this release date. It’s in the same fiscal year, it happens to be a great release window, and naturally we’re really supportive of Rockstar’s approach.”

The new release date is still over a year away, and we asked Zelnick why set a date so far in advance when it’s clearly a complicated project to accurately predict.

“What we want to do is give consumers as much certainty as possible. And again, we feel quite good about this date.”

“It’s not that far in advance if you look at when you need to deliver a game to get it out,” Zelnick said. “Also, we have to start marketing activities in a significant amount of time ahead of release. What we want to do is give consumers as much certainty as possible. And again, we feel quite good about this date.”

He feels good about the release date, LMAO. He felt very good about the previous one and the one before that too. So eh…

Yeah.

Yeah, the marketing wars really show you who is deep in the trenches. I personally think ‘this is an xbox’ is brilliant. It’s becoming clear ps is following xbox’s path there with their streaming announcement yesterday and what appears to be cross buy in the future. So like xbox they want their store to be everywhere. Xbox got ahead of ps with the ‘this is an xbox’ ad campaign. The tv is an xbox, the computer, the phone. They are trying to put ps in a box where you need a ps or a portal to play. sony has a requirement, xbox doesn’t.

I don’t even know if my assumption is true on the portal being only place to stream, I don’t follow ps close enough. But that is my impression partly b/c of the this is an xbox ad campaigns. even as ps continues to roll out their stores to more devices, xbox should continue to hammer that ad campaign forcing ps to somehow breakthrough that public perception already created.

Makes sense. Mafia is pretty widely beloved, but Borderlands has tainted some memories with 3 and wonderlands. Particularly with DLC. With Borderlands it feels like I’ve been trained NOT to buy it at launch. I’m not sure studios really grasp what happens when there’s excessive dlc. And new DLC that comes out of nowhere.

If nothings changed since the PS Now days then Sony TVs should also have it and PCs.

And yeah. People are engaging in some serious double think with Xbox. Its wild because Playstation has had streaming with no console required since PS Now a decade ago now. My family had a Sony TV and I could stream PS3 games like God of War to it without any console. Again 10 years ago. And it’s only when Xbox does it that it’s a bad thing and they’re dead. Do the Sony fan boys even know their own ecosystem? And gosh whose mad about more open ecosystems and more value from our game purchases. I hope Sony is copying Microsoft (like they always are) because those are just objectively good features.

You know i think it the coming future, xbox is going to be more fondly remembered as the media bias against them dies out with these indivvifuals online, we would be all better of without them constantly putting people down for their prefenrences, which honestly is kinda inviting to see as am seeing many comments calling these folks out on their bs and bias, which is a good sign for things to come in the future for customers and a lot less for these journalists and youtubers.

Man, the landscape is gonna look different in a year or two.

I’m guessing this could be good news for games that were planned for later and now come sooner? Wonder which games.

I’d love for Fable to be one of those. But I won’t get my hopes up, because right now it doesn’t even have a release date.

I imagine one being Sony having to move their Wolverine game that was slated for Fall 2026. They always seem to get overshadowed with their game releases.

Yeah, it’s an unfortunate thing that Keighley is seen by so many as someone that cares about the games and devs. This likely won’t change that unfortunately.

Wait- aren’t they meant to be siblings?

I thought they were like a Bonnie and Clyde duo.

Its set in the south, could be both…

Wiki says:

Set within the fictional US state of Leonida, based on Florida, the story follows the romantic criminal duo of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos.

I’m from the South, a lot of us don’t consider Florida to be in the “South”; it’s its own little weird greasepan region
