Well this came out of nowhere. Guess they need to regain the Japan market one way but at least we get to see more titles.

Still waiting for the xbox partner preview in november that is being talked about.

Pretty certain that it will happen. Think they will wait until CoD releases or at least announce it for next week show this week.

Seems they’re getting the GDK ready for the hybrid as you’d expect - much of it will be adding features to PC that Xbox only has at the moment, hopefully Quick Resume etc. so we keep them

Yeah, that Quick Resume remains the blessing of console feature.

Made the mistake of checking headlines this morning and the media is all out to keep trying to kill Xbox, while completely ignoring the fact th,at Sony has been literally doing the same exact moves (albeit years later) and I’m currently able to play more than half a dozen Sony games on Nintendo or Xbox hardware (but don’t you know? Only Xbox is releasing games on other platforms). We couldn’t be in more of a stupid timeline if more Eurotrash and the like tried at this rate; the level of propaganda (lie by omission, single-sided reporting, etc.) gives Fox News a run for its money.

I mean… just imagine the horror of being able to play all your games on one console/handheld? We all know if Sony were leading this charge years ago instead of Xbox, the media would be lauding the move…

I agree. I just think with the way things are now Sony can’t afford to crawl while others are way in front of them. Xbox will be flying from the start NextGen. Valve has Steam OS and has built a strong community, Epic has free games and Fortnite, Xbox has Game Pass and a strong consumer foot. It’d be better for Sony to start day and date on PC now and start building for NextGen at top speed. Nintendo is a strange one if they can’t innovate with the handheld they will be in trouble. Right now, they are holding dev kits from third party for fear of losing their market over. Once the big games like Roblox, COD and others come in they will eat Nintendos’s lunch and pop the bag.

Yep, Eurogamer has a piece online and it’s just tiresome and it reeks of…new week, slow news right now, let’s shit on Xbox. Something about how it’s now five years for Series consoles and what is there left to say. Nonsense really.

I’ve been enjoying my XSX a whole lot on a daily basis and this isn’t stopping anytime soon. This is all that matters for me.

These (barely surviving) gaming outlets are trying to milk those last diehard fanboys, because there’s nothing left after that. Xbox fans have fled those outlets a long time ago, only rolling their eyes at the headlines. I mean, I’m still reacting to some of it, but I know it’s all about engagement and not facts anymore. It hasn"t been in a long time.

Xbox has the right strategy (even if I’m not entirely 100% in at the moment, for different reasons) and they are set to outlast everyone else. It’s not all good, because it means a lot of changes to traditional ecosystem of physical platforms, but they are slowly creeping their way inside everything, every screen, every gaming platform.

Edit: crazy thing is that I read all of the headlines on Eurogamer website, but inconsciently ignored the one on Xbox… I’m just so used to ignore rage baiting at this point.

You know the funny thing is, the hardware not able to sell a lot more isn’t that bad when the software is solid, let alone when on other platforms. You hear reports about sales for a game and learn the percentage for each platform isn’t much of a landslide in console compare. There were reports on BF6 and Arc Raiders placing Xbox last, but the gap isn’t far apart from PS. If anything, it’s the PC to worry about but that’s not the target.

People needs to understand the attach rate isn’t easy to read. People think if someone buys PS5, they will automatically buy this specific game. Think it like this. 1 of 2 buys it for Fortnite or Roblox. For BF6, it would be 1 of 8 rate. In short, don’t expect the attach rate for them to grow a lot along with sales of a console.

On another note, that these outlets are absolutely ignorant about, price for RAM has rose 30% a couple days ago in Europe (I know someone who had to buy right before the hike and resold is older RAM right after… at retail price), because of massive investments in datacenters for AI right now. Nvidia is probably not releasing those refreshes for their cards anytime soon, maybe even skip it entirely, because of the demand.

Consoles will keep rising in price next year. Every piece of tech will. It’s inevitable.

Exactly, you can run a healthy console business with ~40m consoles out there. We don’t have official attach rates for each system but a quick look at how exclusives/timed exclusives (that are not Spider-Man and God of War) like Death Stranding 2, Silent Hill 2 Remake, FF7: Rebirth & FF16 are doing sales wise shows that the attach rate for the system even for exclusives/moneyhats shouldn’t be that high…and all those games were hyped AF by the press and the PS fanbase, were promoted on SoP events and we all know how good PS5 exclusives/moneyhats automatically review…so yeah PS5 having 80-85m consoles out there doesn’t say the whole story.

At the end of the day if PS sales were high enough why Sony published and released Helldivers 2 on the “third place console that no one buys games there”? we’ll see epic meltdowns when the next Playstation game (or even games) will be announced for Xbox…

Sony stopped reporting on software sales years ago because the attach rates have been abysmal on PS5, only two outlets that I recall have had the integrity to point that out. The industry as a whole is in a state of flux, partly because (and this is where it gets a bit too deep for the brain-rotted media apparently) the global economy is also being royally fucked right now.

Prices are going to continue going up on hardware for every single manufacturer; we literally saw a 50% increase in Switch 2 price over the original price of the Switch and the media lapped it up like some opiate, not to mention the piece of shit that was the PS5 Pro, which those same voices lauded without a sense of irony or self-awareness.

The reality is the vast majority of games media know absolutely nothing about the industry they report on: not a semblance of games development - both from the dev and ops side, they’re completely ignorant to any information outside of their narrow Sony/Nintendo-centric view (look at their knowledge on the indies they pretend to laud, or the lack of any knowledge in regards to hardware costs as mentioned), and I could literally go on for days… but then you broach the point about the global, idiotic trade war and these idiots still act as though it’s exclusively an Xbox problem, or their fault.

At least the most idiotic policy wonk reporters in politics still have an ocean of knowledge, regarding the subject they’re reporting on, compared to the puddle the former has…

There is a lot of immaturity in games media. Sometimes I have to remind myself these are grown adults covering gaming. Bc they all act like the disgruntled teenagers we all once were. Some grew up and most didn’t.

Good gods is the Fallout 4 AE launch an absolute mess (people are understandably confused about what’s required, no new wrapper/achievements, 5 different versions trying to sell the same thing, etc.)

I love BGS… but how do they still do such a terrible job on releasing their AE/Remasters?

It’s unfortunate that it’ll be a while before we start to see these in action. I’m really hoping playfab saves pushes cross saves more with other storefronts and eventually consoles.

Gamers and traditional media are so fixated on judging success by comparing hardware sales, but that doesn’t make sense anymore. The Xbox One console is still being serviced with NEW games including some new AAA games like COD. And until very recently Microsoft was taking losses on each piece of hardware sold. Even now I don’t think Microsoft or Sony do much better than breaking even (jury’s out on Nintendo), and with the cost of production it is MORE financially valueable for Xbox to keep a customer that just plays one or two games like Fortnite or COD on Xbox One. The same can be said for Playstation. They have so many more hardware sales and yet reportedly their gamers are stuck in a handful of games (all of which Sony doesn’t own and many of which are cross-gen). Pushing more people that don’t play more than one or two games to upgrade consoles isn’t a financially sound strategy. Yet it’s all gamers and gaming media can do to look at success. You’d think they’d catch on when not a single console maker (iirc) officially reports hardware sales aside from YOY percentages (which could technically mean anything in terms of raw numbers). Everyone’s speculating about success for these gaming platforms based on estimates.

Edit: One thing I see a lot is that the next gen Xbox will sell less and that’ll 100% kill Xbox, and yeah, total hardware sales for that specific Xbox will probably be lower. But the Xbox PC OEM strategy and going harder on Xbox Cloud Gaming will make the ecosystem more supported than ever. Plus Xbox Series consoles will probably be supported well into the next decade. I would be surprised if Xbox One consoles continue seeing most indie and AA games released on them and even some AAA support. Xbox will be servicing more gamers on first party ecosystem experiences than ever. And they don’t need to match Xbox 360 sales with a single box to do that.

It’s a remaster? I thought it’s the same game with DLC/Mods included.

It’s not a remaster, nor did I say it was. It’s an Anniversary Edition (basically just a bundle for a bunch of CC content), hence the ‘AE/Remasters’ statement…

They don’t. Hardware sales really don’t. But also if Xbox wasn’t around would these news outlets and Twitter users be able to pretend those are good numbers? Next Gen is here in probably 2 years exactly at most now. Consoles have also gone up in price and will continue to. There’s expected to be a big last hoorah next year, but it’s hard to expect that the PS5 sales will end on a particularly high note. Both Playstation and Xbox peaked a long time ago (Playstation the longest ago) and each generation has been selling basically the same or less. With the increased cost of production that’s not super great. It’s even worse considering how forever games like Fortnite changed the landscape. Gamers and these media outlets are shooting themselves in the foot by ignoring all the very, very clear problems surrounding the entire industry. It’s like that dog in a fire meme except instead of “This is fine.” they keep shouting “Xbox is dead.” as if that’ll make the flames go away.
