Yep if they go a year or two earlier than PlayStation like they did back with the 360 (meaning those who always want the latest tech may jump in), and you add in the “it’s a PC but can play Xbox games too” bit that should attract a lot of the younger generation where PC gaming seems to be very much on-trend it could do really well…
(BTW in terms of going early, it does work - it’s how I got a 360, I had a PS1 then PS2, was given money for my birthday/Christmas to buy a PS3 but it was still 6 to 12 months away so I thought “screw it” and bought a 360 and never looked back. I eventually bought a PS3 2 years later and ended up trading it in, as the 360 was so much better for local multiplayer / shared online multiplayer when we had a house full of uni students and friends visiting - and while the PS3 might have had some good solo games none came close to Mass Effect anyway!)
Took a peak into the DOOM:TDA on sale thread at you know where and I am truly puzzled…not by the full of toxicity and pure console wars BS posts (that’s to be expected) but as to why there are still Xbox fans there, I honestly don’t get it…why would anyone want to be a part of such a vile, toxic, console war cesspool of a forum? Xboxera is a friendly community with good people and we can have conversations like adults so why are those people still penned in their little thread there like they are outcasts? I just don’t understand it.
R Era having a normal one in their thread for this, I haven’t seen a thread from there in ages but has that site just become a PS forum or just anti Microsoft? It’s totally fine to take a stand and not support corporations but under capitalism there’s no ethical consumption, all these corporations are involved in unethical practices everyday, including the gaming ones.
I really don’t know. The time to leave that place as an Xbox fan was years ago, by staying they support all the shite on there. It’s like the people still using Twitter/X, at this point you are a Musk supporter.
My vain hope is that for the Xbox version there will be some improvements to the performance mode (for both consoles). It’s just not in good shape in the current PS5 version.
Actually pretty good numbers after less than 6 years (if true) considering that there’s less reason to upgrade this gen (more and longer cross Gen support), consoles are more expensive, and supply chains & inventory have been all over the place since the 2020 launch amidst COVID. I think Xbox/Microsoft will see these numbers and recognize that the console market isn’t growing thus the expansion to PC and cloud. But people in general fixate too much on the “vibe” that Xbox this gen has sold like WiiU numbers based on how they talk. Especially when that vibe is fabricated and just them taking all their frustrations out on Xbox or genuinely wanting Xbox gone. The PS numbers also sound similar in the sense that they aren’t growing. Doing better than Xbox sure but not much better than the PS4 last gen. I think both Xbox and Playstation know they peaked multiple generations ago and that the market isn’t really getting any bigger.
Anyway, as for Xbox they can easily clear 50 million with one last big push this year with all the first and third party current Gen only games coming. Then we can look forward to new hardware next year (fingers crossed).
That forum is toxic all around, not just gaming. ( again they’re not as "progressive as they like people to believe they are and I’ll leave it at that) It’s exactly the same as the hellsite it spawned from. Which is why I wasn’t so quick to jump into it when it split off and some were claiming that it was going to be so different this time. Maybe Xbox fans still posting there are masochists or something I dunno.
Also again I was told the console wars were over, Sony “won”. So why are they still so angry?
You could ask Trumpers the same question. It’s almost like, when you make tribalism your entire identity, you don’t know how to process a change in the landscape…
People can ignore reality all they want, but Sony is following Xbox’s footsteps and there will likely come a point where Nintendo will have to do the same… and I hate to break it to all those fragile sensibilities that have been fomenting and propagating the console wars for years, but that’s a good thing for gamers, and if it at least helps stem the tide of what’s to come in regards to labor/developers, then you’d have to be a real piece of shit to not be onboard.
Anyone that thinks the gaming industry isn’t going to be affected by the global upheaval occurring at the moment need a bit more schooling, but I digress.
Right - the results from the upscaling method they used were unusually poor. The “fix” is to buy a PS5 Pro because that version is acceptable.
Intergrade got the Streamlined Progression options added in a patch when the other versions came out, so it doesn’t seem impossible that Rebirth might get some kind of belated performance optimizations in its patch. Or at least maybe they change the upscaling method so it’s not so ugly.
Otherwise I might just have to play Rebirth on the graphics mode because that perf mode, blech
