I’d say everybody involved should get credit (not just the commentators), because the audio engineering work is impressive with how natural it sounds for the most part.
Agreed

(Second revision) @Doncabesa , did you meet up with Jez?
I think this is a pretty good announcement, specially for people that want to have all games on one system.
I’ve only played a bit of the modern games that my daughter has, so was looking forward to seeing where it all started, but noticed they want €17 each for them! I’d have thought they’d just add it to NSO.
I think it’s for the best that they’re for sale now and maybe add them to NSO later. Nintendo has been tying games to NSO and making them the only way to play them, which can become an issue in the future.
While true, I think it was leaked by accident so they head start the announcement. You can tell.
Classic games being locked behind a sub drives me crazy. I’m more than willing to buy a couple games I would like to revisit but I’m not going to pay for a sub to do it. It just comes off so scummy and really rubs me the wrong way. I’m so close to dropping nintendo for a lot of reasons and this is definitely one of them.
I thought the Pragmata demo was pretty cool, but the community for that game is really bad (for obvious reasons unfortunately)

Or they could do both. ![]()
And make game pass a thing? Fans would riot!/j

Interesting study - focused on politics but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens for gaming echo chambers too, particularly as games are dragged even more into culture wars…
This 100% has to be true of gamers as well or even possibly in tandem. There’s been big pushes for stuff like “Make women pretty again in gaming” and all the sweet baby inc nonsense and complains of everything sucking because it’s woke. Social media has become such a stain on our civilization. We have this ability to instantly connect with people all over the world and yet this is how it’s used. It’s just sad really. These platforms are intentionally designed tear people apart, pluck them into their own little bubbles, and make everything polarizing to financially benefit from their “engagement” (anger). I think the world in large part feels so bleak because of this. Whether we like it or not social media is such a big part of how we all interact with the world now. It shows up in our lives one way or other (whether we actively seek it or not) and it impacts not just us but the attitudes of those around us, and the world just feels drained recently. People feel tired and like they’ve lost bits of their soul. There are also so many people in the real world that’s fully succumb to the echo chamber. It’s sad to see really. Even with gaming. Ideally we’d all just enjoy our games and that’d be it. There’s no need for conversations to go into actually attacking someone for their preferences (what they choose to play or what they play it on or even how they play it). It’s also crazy that there’s people out there who can only complain about what a game isn’t and won’t just go find another game to play.
This is also just terrifying because we know it works and gaming plays such a big part in these conversations. I feel like “right leaning” is also misleading here, because conservatism in actual politics isn’t what we’re seeing on Twitter now. It feels like more malicious than that. A LOT more malicious than that and the people turned are aggressively negative and don’t trust anyone or anything. Something that’s again so common in the gaming landscape now. Everything HAS to suck and if you try to point out alternatives like indie games or show information that “No, DEI didn’t grow arms and legs and slap you in the face.” then they vehemently and aggressively push back.
It’s definitely an issue and one that is heavily invested in gaming through people like Asmondgold and his followers. But the recent stuff that has happened has seen quite a bit a push back from others in the gaming community, like Moist Critical and his coverage of the Epstein files(that so many right wingers have been trying to make it seen like a non issue) , V-tubers, streamers and many independent media (like HasanAbi, More Perfect Union , Legal Eagle, Democracy Docket, Gamer Nexus/GNCA, Voidzilla, BrianTylerCohen on Youtube).
One thing I remember from a while ago, is that someone whose parents were entrenched in this sort of environment had success getting them out of that mentality by signing them up to news letters from more left leaning(not centrist, like full left) news sources. I think it’s because this allows people to see how things are being reported on both sides and look for that information to determine which is true, instead of only listening to sources like fox news.
Anyways back to our regularly scheduled gaming talks with Oops! All Tomb Raider! GDQ Hotfix 1 and 2.
Has anyone else here played Resident evil 4 remake? I think I’m at the last chapter but damn does this game drags on, every time I think I’m at the end there’s another area that’s just there for the next shootout where I have to fight hordes of the same enemies I’ve been fighting for over half the game now, like damn, I like the game but feels like I should have finished it 2 chapters ago.
