Its not small, but it’s nothing compared to what they risk in the future if everyone starts with the “Sony has no exclusives lmao” or “Why get a Sony console when i can play their games on PC”.

Right now they aren’t making that much money from their first party games even on PS5, sales are much lower than 5-10 years ago in that segment, but third party sales, subs and MTX are flying right now, and you need a strong store (console) for that.

Just 1 mill consoles can make a big diff during a generation if you have people paying 100€ per year or more just to play online, who also buys games and MTX.

This said it sucks because im not plannig to get a PS6, but plans keep changing so maybe in 5 years after the first couple years from PS6, they’ll relax and release some games again, who knows.

I think the public reaction is the most interesting. These rumors are basically sony saying, some of our games will be on pc, or console, or mobile, or some combination of the three. This will require our customers to spend more than they planned but that is why we are doing it.

Gaming community - cool, no problem. Time to go dogpile xbox for any number of things.

I haven’t played a Sony game since the PS3 era except for Uncharted 4, and to be honest, I don’t feel like I’m missing much, and I’m pretty sure that’s the feeling of most PC gamers.

At the end of the day, there is so much out there to enjoy along with so many GAAS that you can miss out on a console or 2 and not even feel like your missing anything.

It strikes me as like, a very 2010 calculation to make. In the seventh Gen, PS3 and Xbox 360 were the only games in town so it made sense to focus on exclusive games as differentiators. It’s not the same world now. Forty somethings make a lot of noise online about list wars but kids are just going to play on PC, or Switch 2, or mobile, or just sticking to the same GAAS for 100% of their playtime. Limiting the audience of Intergalactic or Saros to a fraction of what it could have been, just for the sake of forcing people to buy your hardware, just to me does not reflect the current reality.

Understatement of the year so far.

A bit worried for Bungie with Marathon peaking around 145,000 and now on the weekend, it is cut in half. Next week, we’ll see.

Resident Evil probably doesn’t help, although I guess it’s probably not the same audience.

it’s really hard to distinguish yourself in the current market. I think we’re approaching saturation levels.

Marathon has a really beautiful vibe and aesthetic but then the game genre is absolutely not for me. Why do they not make campaigns anymore? I would’ve played that

I wasn’t even aware it had already released

Probably Phil’s last hurrah.

He loves his Bungieslop :philwins:

So, no Gamestop, Target or any other store I’ve tried has physical copies of RE Requiem on hand, because I didn’t pre order I would need to wait until tomorrow to get a copy if I’m lucky, I was thinking that I could just walk in and buy a copy like normal days so I didn’t pre order, I wanted to get this game physically so I may just wait but what an embarrassment for Xbox because of course every store has PS5 copies on hand but no Xbox.

For fun I put in my zip code to see if there was at least a store 30-50 miles away with a copy and it says no store within a 50 mile radius has a copy for Xbox…. Great job Microsoft.

This could be something Sharma was brought in to deal with. Xbox’s presence compared to the other consoles is far too weak. Before bringing back exclusives they need to bring back consoles and games to stores. Get eyes on Xbox. The goal for them is to pull people to the digital storefronts and cloud, but people don’t move that fast. People need to be aware of Xbox first and foremost. Then you can convert them to digital.

Speaking of buying Resident Evil Requiem, I’m glad I stopped myself getting it at $70. I looked on Xbdeals and the price history of Capcom games just convinced me to wait, they go on steep discounts so next year I’ll probably get Requiem, Pragmata and Onimusha for around $70 lol

Looking at more news for Nacon. Crazy that Sony closed a studio and Nacon filed for insolvency, but Xbox just changing leadership is what makes people act like the world is ending.

Same. I love the visual style of the game! But the genre is not something I would ever touch.

Response to the server test seems to be pretty divisive. Seems like a good experience for fans of that type of game but if it’s not for you, it’s really not for you.

Imagining if it had been a Halo/Gears like package with a cool campaign, single player and co-op, and a suite of PvP modes, I would’ve been all over it.

I really hope so…. But in a shocking turn of events I actually got my copy delivered to me a few minutes ago, so earlier today I paid to get it delivered to me by tonight but going by the messages I got it didn’t look like I would get it until at least Sunday or Monday but then I get this DM which I thought was some sort of spam and then a few minutes later I see my copy right in my porch lol

So my night is saved I guess

Still every store I called didn’t have one but making the pre order through their website actually got me a copy.
