Ok well, next Xbox will be a gigantic success confirmed. It’s Pachter, iykyk.

I notice with early access games tend to lose momentum unless they’re really really popular. For Towerborne, they also went radio silent for a while and we now know that was for changing to not be a live service always online game. It was always a smaller game with less marketing and now the game that we got is fundamentally different from what was initially marketed, so I think it probably will stumble a bit in sales unfortunately.

I wonder if future employers will see I follow Xbox and go “Ugh, we don’t hire GAY-MERZZ”:joy:

Woke up to STEP (the US travel alert) cautioning Americans worldwide to follow security alerts. Yay .

Weird hang up? They also added a lot of benefits to the lower tiers making them more in line with what Ultimate was. Premium should be exactly what everyone thinks is a “healthy” subscription model and price. It’s not overvalued with day one games or too expensive and still has a lot of benefits.

He’s always wrong about gaming, he really needs to stick to the analysis he actually knows how to do.

I just can’t. I have enough problems in my personal life without flaring up anxiety over the current idiocracy.

Ancient Gods both parts combined was a pretty meaty DLC for Eternal and one of the best DLCs all around. Have hopes for this one to deliver too.

For $30, I actually bought the deluxe edition. I played like 50 or so hours, maxed out my character during the Game Preview process. Will start a new fresh playthrough after Crimson Desert as it should be a good palette cleanser. The only thing (based on Jon’s review) that im not a fan of was the removal of all the octagon tiles. I really enjoyed that setup.

I bought the game when it came to Steam Early access and periodically played it since. I didn’t max out my character, but got really far. Ultimately I see why the live service was removed. That is always challenging to get exactly right and puts the game into a cutthroat subgenre. Though unfortunately Jon’s review captures really well that the worst part of the game is that you can tell it wasn’t originally intended to be what it is. The tiles are a result of that. The over world tile system was designed with multiplayer play in mind and running into other players doing missions. It was a nice simple interactive overworld. The current system feels like it’s more there to get the job done (not to make you any new friends). I’m glad for the pivot, but you have to wonder what the game would be like if built from the ground up with it in mind. The same goes for Avowed and Redfall. Both started as the studios chasing trends that were not at all their forte. There was a bit of a pivot for each, but the underlying problems remained. Redfall was really bad and could never escape it’s problems. Avowed just ended up with so failed potential and probably a more expensive and longer dev cycle than needed. Towerborne is probably closer to the Avowed camp or somewhere in the middle. I think this game probably will fly under the radar, and that people will enjoy it but think something is missing.

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying but I still think that they could have kept the tiles and made it for solo players which is how I played and completed a few areas of them all. Loved Towerborne when I played it and it’s my 3rd best and favorite beat em up of all time (#1 Final Fight CD and #2 Streets of Rage) and im hoping that it stays that way for me.

Damn. I forgot February was such a short month and missed my monthly game pass 8 pack :sob:. I need to stop playing Monster Train 2 and Overwatch so much.

Edit: Also does Overwatch not count as GP game anymore?

I really wanted to check out Towerborne with my nephew yesterday, but he had to log into a different account to be able to play with me in local co-op. All other games that day such as Gang Beasts, Lego games, Mad Streets worked with just “add guest” or even without that.

We didn’t have enough time left to make a new account solely for that, so better luck next time. I really like it how you can play several local co-op games without having to do anything for the second player.

Good news for those unaware: it looks like Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be play anywhere once it’s on Game Pass on the third of March.

Got it notified on my wishlist.

Played Guacamelee 2 all afternoon with my nephew yesterday, man these games are so fun. Lots of cool references, humor, great music, plenty of cool abilities and reasons to go back to previously visited areas so that you can find a new ability or item there.

Isn’t this basically a Metroidvania as well?

Had the same experience with a friend over some time ago. It makes since for the always online live service early access, but now I hope they do an update to allow local co-op without another account. They could just clone your character.
