The EU HAS to rule today though. Microsoft may not make the acquisition final until next week, but the EU HAS to rule today.
Today is not the closure. The EU will (certainly) approve the deal, but the acquisition wonât be completed before some days (like most other MS acquisitions, except Nokia which took more time). I guess.
Ah yes, hopefully we at least hear of they approved or not. That is all we need.
Iâm thinking the EU will rule on Monday honestly, it doesnât seem like they will post an update today itâs getting pretty late in the day. I donât think because there is a deadline they MUST post their decision on that day, they might need another day to get all the shit into order, but I could be completely wrong on that.
Linkedin happened in late afternoon if I recall correctly
have no idea what the fuck any of you guys are talkin about lmaoo
Just make sure to ping me when the news is out
Pretty sure they HAVE to rule. Itsâ called a deadline for a reason.
You canât have a deadline and then say, âbut itâs late, so weâll just do it Monday, several days after we said we wouldâ
They already could have ruled and never made it public as well.
After each acquisition we will have to waitâŚThough Itâs been almost half of a year since the announcement. Time sure flies.
It says âProvisional deadlineâ

OH FFS.
Itâs provisional unless an investigation is opened otherwise they have to make their decision today. They say provisional incase they have to dive deeper into it, but as they said on the 15th they see no issues then they wont need to extend that
See thatâs what I thought.
Itâs a Friday and we have Covidđ
Linkedin had a provisinoal deadline of 15/11/2016 but the decision came on 06/12/2016 so I donât think itâs the case of itâs 100% on that day. Iâm starting to think this Marchish event is probably when weâll hear it go through now. So it could be in the next 2 weeks, I honestly think MS would want to announce the whole thing on a Monday anyway even if it did go through today theyâd probably wait till Monday to announce.
- Announcement: June 4
- EU deadline: October 19
- Cleared by EU: October 19
- Completion: October 26
Skype ($8.5B) in 2011:
- Announcement: May 10
- EU deadline: October 7
- Cleared by EU: October 7
- Completion: October 13
Nokia ($7.2B) in 2013:
- Announcement: September 2
- EU deadline: December 4
- Cleared by EU: December 4
Seems like LinkedIn was the only exception due to concessions, the rest met the EU deadline.
They had issues with LinkedIn though, thatâs why that was after the initial deadline. Every other one was cleared on the day they set
Salesforce.com Inc., which was outbid by Microsoftâs $26.2 billion offer for LinkedIn, has urged the EU to take a closer look at the deal. Microsoftâs control of LinkedInâs âunique datasetâ of professionals may allow it cut off rivalsâ access to that data, the company said. The EU was also looking at whether artificial intelligence could allow Microsoft reap key insights from LinkedIn data that would aid sales of its other products.
I guess thatâs why the deadline was extended in Linkedinâs case
Weâll just have to wait and see I guess haha, look I want it as much as you guys just donât want people to be upset if itâs not today thatâs all, just be aware itâs a possibility itâs not today.
At least we know the chances of issues like EU not approving or starting a investigation are very slim. Thatâs a relief.
