The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered launches on September 29 as a free upgrade for all owners of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on XBOX Series X|S. What’s more, players who only own the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt base game will receive both Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions for free. This includes players on XBOX One. Digital owners will automatically receive the expansions in their library, while disc-based players can claim the expansions for free from the Store.
There’s also mod support. I’m assuming this is to bring new and old players back into the fold ahead of the new expansions and Witcher 4, but this is is still GOATed marketing from CD.
God i just love this studio. I did not see this coming. I was already busy with the second expansion and planning a second playthrough of main game, well that second playthrough is gonna happen for damn sure now.
Better visuals, improved combat and so on. Holy shit, so awesome. I just wish the third expansion had a concrete release date.
Is this the first third party game on Battle net? That’s cool, but I am confused about the long term strategy with the launcher. Xbox stopped the cross purchase with the Xbox store version and there’s no mention of it returning in this article. Are there just going to be two different Xbox owned PC storefronts without any purchasing power connection?
Personally, if it was up to me, I would eliminate the Windows Store for gaming and instead, go with Battle.net. It already has huge IP’s on there and would most likely be far more favorable to PC gamers than the Windows Store. Then make cross buy, play anywhere, etc. using this storefront. In other words, replace the Windows Store with Battle.net.
Massive free upgrade…jeez. I may have to play through The Witcher 3 for a third time but if I do, it will be closer to when the Songs of the Past releases.
I’m not sure how they would. They’d have to migrate every first and third party game to the battle net launcher and all the systems and accounts and everything. That’s not even getting into the branding. As far as which people like more, I think it’s more splint. People who have always played battle net games prefer it, but I see a lot of comments online asking for it to get gone like the Bethesda launcher.
Yeah, all true. Instead of Microsoft having multiple launchers, I would just try to make it one and since Warcraft and whatnot are on Battle.net, it would probably be easier to just go with that store front.
One thing is for sure, wouldn’t have to see XBOX on PC anymore since it would just be marketed as Battle.net.
Fully agree. I already completed it twice as well and never thought I’d do three, but with these free upgrades. Well, ya know what they say about third times…
Makes me wonder if XSX gets the raytraced mode at 60fps, bit unclear. Up to 90fps on Pro is wild. God i love this studio. Best game ever gets even better.
