They can, especially with extension, which is actually good news since it highly suggest they’re working things out.
I think that’s what the meeting on the 17th could before, maybe CMA is going to allow them to close while they review the new deal?

My guess is that they’ll have things settle down and setup everything to release the games in Game Pass. Maybe early August but I would save it for Gamescom.

The biggest loser is Sony out of this, there is absolutely no incentive for MS to release anything on their platform except for COD after all this debacle. Sony will have to give their future consoles early now to if they want to have COD to develop on there.

I highly doubt that Microsoft is closing any later than the existing merger agreement deadline at this point. You don’t keep citing the urgency of that date including in the filings with the 9th Circuit if it doesn’t have merit. CMA has nothing to stand on at this point, so they will gladly accept any “win” they can get even if finalized in the several weeks after closing.
