Hm yeah, that one is…special at times.

I’m not saying I enjoy the drive-by posters who crawl out everytime there’s some “bad” news, don’t get me wrong. But I do feel that it used to be a little bit more diverse here.

Random thought: kind of wild to think Crossfire X lasted longer than Concord.

Crossfire X was on GP though, so free to try at least.

I don’t know how it’s in the US but here in Greece and in the German Amazon I checked and there aren’t that many official bundles plus you can always find a vanilla Switch easily (and that is the case since 2017). Sony on the other hand has pushed way more bundles (last gen too) and for about a year (mid 2022-mid 2023) you could only get a PS5 via a very expensive bundle (with games and sometimes an extra dual sense too) for prices in the range of 700-800 euros and that was officially done by Sony Hellas so those were not unofficial bundles.

But yeah maybe there are some differences on how each platform holder handles these things in each region. Sony is definitely treating us here in Europe differently in terms of pricing for example.

Nintendo does do bundles. That’s why Mario Kart Deluxe is at 70m or some shit like that. Plus, didn’t they just announce 3 new bundles or something like that? That billikun guy keeps posting about it on Twitter but im just waiting for the next Switch.

Their prices for everything stays full price forever. If they go on sale once or twice a year, it’s a miracle and when they do, it’s only like $8 off. lmao

I muted that topic. l know what Microsoft is doing and have accepted it so no point going insane about shit I can’t do anything about.

Both platforms have their positives and negatives. There’s fanboys/extremists on both sides and they’re both the same and they all try to act as if they’re not or they don’t do the same shit as the other side or whatever the case may be.

Both platforms have their positives and negatives along with having games and droughts. It is what it is but to say either side has no games is fucking bullshit.

If anything, I have too many games and a backlog. lol

It’s possible the ray tracing in the Pro is going to be nowhere near as powerful as the Nvidia RTX cards like some fanboys think.

I’m not a big fan of PC Gamer but they do know their graphics cards and they’ve calculated just the additional GPU size and moving from RDNA 2 to 3 is enough to count for the ray tracing uplift Sony is claiming for the Pro.

Which suggests RDNA 4 isn’t going to be much better at ray tracing and it’ll still be nowhere near Nvidia - so while the ray tracing will be better on the Pro it still won’t be as good as some are expecting (and I’d hoped for when I thought it wasn’t going to be an insane price and was going to buy it):

The fanboys love to throw around how Pro allegedly will have tech nowhere else seen yeah.

They posted a clip from DF where Richard apparently says this. I didn’t watch the clip but it wouldn’t shock me if they totally took it the wring way.

Well, a backlog is a backlog but im nowhere near you and others. You guys are pros!! lol

I have 7 games from Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 (all remastered for XBO/PS4), 3 games from PS4/XBO and 8 games for XSX/PS5. Total is 18 games excluding dlc/expansions.

This is how it begins.

Oh man, there are two ways to look at this:

  1. Those are rookie numbers
  2. I have a problem… my PS4 backlog, alone, eclipses that

If they were, then AMD wouldn’t have come out with the early statement they are exiting the high end market. If they really could be performant compared with Nvidia, they’d be chasing those $1600 to $2000 SKUs too.

Nintendo has (had) bundles for everything from Mario Kart to Wonder to Splatoon to Zelda to Kirby to Switch Sports and everything in between.

It doesn’t diminish their success. It’s just a weird argument to make against PlayStation.

Yep they’re completely outgunned by Nvidia at the moment.

They managed to claw their way back against Intel with CPUs so I’m hoping they’ll do well in the mid-range GPUs and be able to come up with something in the future to take the battle to Nvidia.

We need true competition - Nvidia has been pushing prices higher and higher, simply because they can as if you want the best ray-traced graphics they’re the only game in town, and they’ve managed to build a Sony / Apple like cult on PC at the moment

I was think about this when I was watching the DF breakdown of the announcement. They discussed it all just taking for granted that they was some special RT magic being included. And I was just like…you literally know AMDs roadmap and they have NOTHING that represents a competitive technology to NVIDIA. Why would you (DF) just assume this? And AMD/Sony would be screaming it from the rooftops.

I have no doubt the newer architecture improves on it, but I don’t believe for a second its going to approach even the most rudimentary levels of RTX performance in any meaningful way.

Edit: Oh, and I almost forgot about a point I think Alex made in the video. That if a PS game currently has RT in it, there is a decent chance that the Pro can enhance those RT effect in meaningful way. But if a game doesn’t have RT effects in it, it is unlikely because RT calls are CPU heavy, so the fact that the CPU is the same will limit devs ability to add RT effects to existing games that don’t currently have them.

Yep and the upscaling technology is brand new too and they seem to forget it took even Nvidia 3 versions before it really started to shine and do almost-magic.

We really need to see some games that will push the Pro before anyone, whether expert or not, can really say if it’s more capable than the specs would suggest

At this point Im not even convinced that PSSR is even a unique technology. Until someone proves otherwise, I wouldnt be surprised if it is a newer version of FSR with PS branding slapped on it.

True but the 360/PS3 games I only recently went back to because my friend has this retro hard drve or some shit that he bought for $300 and has 20,000+ games on it going all the way to Atari or some shit. He replayed a bunch of old beat em ups, Nintendo games and PS one games and listening to him play the games over the phones at times, I was like, damn it, he’s getting me hooked into this shit. lmao

Only difference is that outside of Halo 1 & 2, im not going further back than Xbox 360/PlayStation 3. I had 30+ games but eliminated a few outright because im not going to play them and did eliminate 8 games over the last month (Halo series and Bulletstorm) so im already doing better than I ever expected to do. lol

Going with #2 because im not going further back than 360/PS3 (see above) and my PS4 backlog is a few games. 360/PS3 is actually more. lol
