Worst PS Week Ever…
Saw the rumors yesterday, pretty quick turn around on it.
Cannot wait to see how fanboys spin this as a good thing for playstation because they will. Cannot wait for the reality check from actual gamers.
I figured the 350 euro deal in December was going to be the last chance saloon to get one of these.
Next gen (and Steam Deck) is going to be super expensive, people had best accept that now instead of continuing to hope for a $500 PS6 or something. I’ve set aside $1200 for Xbox Helix and I’m starting to wonder if I should plan to save even more.
Also, salute to everyone who rolled the dice on a $700 PS5 Pro betting that PSSR wouldn’t suck someday. 
I have been on the 1.2k USD price point for base Helix consoles already, but here we are.
900 USD ps pro will provide some decent data on what consumers are willing to spend on a console. Assuming next gen is at or above that.
I feel like that has to be the minimum for Sony right? They aren’t lowering prices (especially with their fanbase’s loyalty) and the PS6 will be an upgrade over the pro. Even 2028 is only in two years. Also worth noting that the PS5 Pro is an all digital console, so it also feels pretty guaranteed that the 6 will either be all digital or even more expensive with a separate cheaper all digital version.
Looking forward to another round of media pundits wishing for a budget console experience for consumers who don’t need the best of the best graphics. … Series S? Ew, no, not like that.
The economy continues to be the economy. Dear God, $900 for the PS5 Pro before taxes and without a disc drive

Hopefully there’s some pushback to these price increases. The economy is awful, but businesses will at least try to hold on prices more when it impacts sales. Everything comes down to profits. Otherwise, yeah, that $900 will probably be what the PS6 starts at. Lmao to all the “leakers” that decided the PS6 would be an “affordable” 600 (already the price that killed the ps3 once upon a time). Really though, prices aren’t going to be pretty for anyone. If this continues. It’s starting to look like the flagship Apple & Samsung prices. Or flagship something. Is this why Sony is ending PC ports? Because they’re getting too close to PC pricing and they’ll start more visibly competing with PC hardware for gamers?
Oddly, I’d probably say the portal is the worst. Any price increase hurts when the device is all remote play and cloud gaming.
Xbox needs to start ratio’ing every post with a link to the Series S reveal trailer and a “You got what you deserve.” or “This is why we can’t have nice things.” meme. We really just were not worthy of the Series S when it came out at the start of this gen. We’ve gone from a $300 budget console at launch to this disgusting pricing. Of course said budget console has itself been raised to a price where it’s kinda not worth it.
I’ll continue to feel well invested in buying the Series X and S day one. The price increases throughout this generation have been dastardly.

A Pro can be found for waaaaay cheaper right now, especially on sites similar to eBay and I can do it but I won’t. It would only be for GTA VI (I assume Rockstar will make very good use of PSSR2) and maybe a few other games, including a few of their exclusives. But i would still buy majority of games for my XSX.
Way more important stuff to spend money on, such as renovating my home for starters. I will manage more than fine with my XSX and the huge ass backlog. And any left over money can go to the next Xbox, because that one is not going to be cheap.
I’m convinced this era of Xbox is back to FTW and I don’t mean “For the Win.” Back in my days, it used to mean…something else.
Right now in the UK, Argos has the Series X for ÂŁ469.99, a full hundred quid less than the new PS5 price (although they do currently have the Pro at ÂŁ639.99 too).
Seems Xbox is coming back into stock quite a bit here
Fucking shit I literally believed they would hold for this year like they said they were trying to, to use GTA 6 as bait. I was getting some good deals these days that I thought were still going to last till I get paid, and they’re gone now, fuck me.
They still have the cheaper language/region locked Japanese version, though
