Funny thing is many outlets said they wouldn’t recommend Xbox consoles after price increase. Then the same people are silent when Sony raised prices . Microsoft provided an affordable solution with series s and they were chastised by the media and gamers about it .
This might be where game pass ultimate comes in. Maybe they are casuals who only play Fortnite & GTA VI well Microsoft can throw in a free or reduced cost 3 months of Ultimate and they can gladly take it because they need online. Then they start getting used to Fortnite Crew and maybe GTA VI launches with cloud gaming support and they get used to that and maybe they try some games in the library. It does come down to if they’re willing to pay the whooping $30 a month, but they might actually go for the mass market appeal fortnite crew gives. If they do only play Fornite and were going to get paid online for GTA VI then that’d already be $10 a month for essential and another $10 for Fornite Crew. It might work out for them. Though too bad GPU doesn’t also include Rockstars GTA subscription.
I agree GTA 6 will be pushed on the PS5 console, so Xbox shouldn’t look to rely on that to take any advantage of the PS price increase
Use games that are in Xbox control, Xbox should look at giving 3 or 6-month ultimate subs with each new Series console or even a code for Forza Horizon 6 with each new Series console at the game’s launch.
This could be a nice Brucie bonus for Asha. Hopefully, Xbox is savvy enough to take advantage of a rival’s misstep & get some extra sales, more so with an upcoming stellar lineup of In-house games
Whatever gets them through the night. The console is going to cost what it costs, despite whatever they’re telling themselves now about subsidies.
And now a PS fan crashing out to top off a very rough week for PS, let alone Sony.
At the current new prices, I somehow doubt there will be a huge amount of people rushing to buy PS5s just for GTA6, and PC gamers will wait also as that’s the price of a video card you’re asking for an out of date system.
I think MS needs to lower prices for that launch, or like you said, incentivize people to buy Xbox with extra added value. Series S should definitely be leveraged here.
I think in the current climate, a price cut is off the cards, but for some reason I’ve seen Amazon UK discount Xbox games & also consoles, so who knows?
I’ll be happy for Xbox just to hold firm on the price of the consoles & like you say just give better incentives to buy a Series console in the run up to GTA 6, like pack-in game codes or 3/6 months worth of GamePass Ultimate code with each new console
With games like Forza Horizon 6 , Halo Remake, Fable & Gears Of War E-Day, it would be a great incentive for people looking to buy a new console for GTA 6 to have 3 to 6 months worth of GamePass too
Hope Xbox makes a GTA 6 console wrap & also makes GTA 6 dynamic background too
Which one?
Also, wonder if those Switch 2 rumors of GTA6 have any weight to them, would definitely mix things up quite a bit!
From an earlier reply, Microsoft is offering deals in their store currently for Xbox One users, so what we need is for them to work with retailers to do some deals.
Zuby Tech. If you have seen the post, definitely define the term crash-out.
I still think cloud gaming will be the big push for next gen. €20 - €30 a month is starting to look like a bargain compared to €1000 hardware + games/subs.
Any links?
Sony fans are completely insane
Yep that’s batshit, I notice they don’t actually play on PC so have no idea how simple it really is, how far ahead DLSS really is and how much more powerful even mid level PCs are than their beloved Pro.
You can buy a CPU far better than the Pro’s for about £100 to £150 - that weak CPU in the Pro that wasn’t improved holds it back on many games in areas such as dense crowds or CPU-constrained levels, as it’s lopsided towards the new GPU.
However if you know what you’re doing with PCs (like Xbox will with Helix) you can create tight builds where everything is at a similar level and it can really perform amazingly well without spending a fortune - Steam did it with the original Deck for example.
You can also balance upgrades much better to spread the cost - for example helped my brother get a top AM4 CPU for a steal so he can keep his motherboard / RAM combo for now, but it’s a great pairing with the GPU he splurged on - which will then pair well with an AM5 motherboard and CPU later on, then the RAM, etc as much of it can be upgraded piecemeal as prices and your pocket allows.
Yes storage / RAM prices are high at the moment but that affects everyone - and I’d take a balanced PC that’s flying along over the unbalanced Pro any day, and I bet Helix in all versions will be well balanced and very performant for the price which is why I’m looking forward to it so much
Free games? Didn’t know PS+ was free!
also, used games? Steam sales are most likely cheaper than buying used console games.
I did a build for fun recently, you can buy something with a 9600x, an RTX 5070, 32GB of RAM, 1TB pcie 5.0 ssd, and a decent motherboard with wifi and case and some RGB, all that for less than 2000$ Canadian, and I could probably optimize to remove another 100-200$ if I was a bit cheap.
At 1800$ CAD, that’s probably like 1500$ US, but it does a lot more than a console and pushes better graphics than a console.
some fanboys are jus delusional, and for some reason, I’m seeing more and more of those people shilling for Sony every single day.
As obnoxious as PS fanboys are, at least they don’t call themselves the “Master Race.” It really doesn’t get any cringier than that.
I think it’s safe to assume that all fanboys are delusional, one way or another.
Crashout is the word for it. I also hate people tying “free” to a paid subscription. Xbox gamers are telling Microsoft to get to rid of paid online, but here we are in 2026 with someone justifying paid online and cloud saves with “free” games. By that logic PC gas PC game pass, Humble Bundles subscription, EA Access and Ubisoft+, Prime Games, and whatever else for “free games”. Epic Games also has actual free games. The backlog is laughable when you don’t even have to go to PC. Xbox has a stronger backwards compatibility program. Playstation is the home of Final Fantasy, except no because Xbox is the only console you can play all the mainline games.
The proper word for it would be no extra cost on top of Game Pass (depends on tier list). It doesn’t mean free; just no need to pay further than sub.
