For your sake I hope its not that rumored analyst $100 base price.
They also have the certified refurbished option on the Xbox store on consoles, which has generally cost less(close to launch). Although theyâre doing this weird thing where they now say theyâre on sale, the price is still the same as I remember them, so Digital Series X is 499 and Series X is 549 and Series S is 329 USD. They removed the matte black Series S though which was the one that was 329 before.
Itâs still amazing how Sony brain washed probably 2 generations of gamers over the decades to think that everything in gaming revolves around Sony and that Sony can do no wrong. Seeing as expected people feeling sorry for Sony having to raise their prices during the current economy even though Sony is seeing record profits.
It is amazing how a company that makes what is really a luxury product has a base of 80 million that treat them like a charity. Brain washing seems pretty easy these days.
There was a gaming industry decades before Sony came into it and their will be one after they are gone from it.
Sony multiple times this gen raises prices on their hardware and services, they closed many studios, canceled tons of games, laid off thousands of people, has a 1st party that is only trickling out games now and for most of the gen had lesser hardware then the competition.
But yet Sony can simply do no wrong in the eyes of their brain washed fan base. And the kicker is some of them Blame MS for not being competitive enough. Yes it is Xboxâs fault you Sony nut jobs did not buy a better more consumer friendly product at a better price cause you think the entire gaming world revolves around Sony.
Think losing money on the Series S in order to sell it for GTA6 may not be on the cards - as itâs possible all stock might be tight for all consoles at the time (meaning theyâre leaving money on the table) and those gamers might not buy any other games - just GTA6 and play that, Fortnite and other forever games, meaning particularly if the online pay wall is eventually removed those gamers may contribute little.
Itâs the issue PlayStation has, too many casuals not spending enough
The economy is only bad for actual consumers right now, for businesses they are doing better then ever.
Yea and their users seem to be very open and happy to be fleeced by Sony
People need to pay for online on GTA6 though, so thatâs a lot of Gamepass Essential customers overs time. I think itâs definitely worth the investment for MS.
Totally agree with you on this. I think a good series s sale plus marketing the sale at gta launch would sell a lot of boxes. Now that series s is the clear cheapest entry point, I think they should really try to push that concept regardless of gta.
Not for long though if they kill the paywall to online when they announce HelixâŚ
The difficulty is, will Xbox sell many units for GTA6 if PlayStation have the marketing rights?
No guarantee they do, but the footage so far has been captured on a PS5, and Sony have always had the GTA5 rights it seems so Iâd be surprised if they donât.
Xbox can say âwe have GTA6 tooâ on social media posts maybe, but if PlayStation do have the rights then Xbox wonât be able to sell bundles or advertise / do sales on the Series consoles specifically targeted at GTA6 buyers - and as usual the PlayStation marketing would mean most casuals would assume itâs exclusive.
Yes more switched on gamers might get an Xbox, but unfortunately the marketing rights will be a big deal - I had someone surprised I was playing Hogwarts Legacy on my Series X for example as theyâd seen the marketing and assumed it was exclusive to PS
Now Crunchyroll, part of Sonyâs family, is getting sued for the whole breach of security. Next week canât come sooner for Sony.
Iâm of those that thinks the paywall wonât go away for those still on last generation, although MS has done far crazier things in the past I guess. But then again, having those players on Xbox is still probably better in the end for tha 30% on GTA in game cash.
I have two thoughts. One is, when it comes to gta marketing, 2k is in the driverâs seat. Whoever buys marketing will not only pay a huge price but will also only get the benefits 2k allows. Namely, hindering another console from promoting the game and therefore reducing sales is prob not in the cards.
Second, I canât remember exactly how this work, but I recall a few years ago, ps had some marking deal with a big game. maybe it was a cod or something just as significant. xbox still ran a promotion that if you bought a series console you got the game for free. it wasnât a packin, it was just you got a copy of the game. canât recall if it was digital or physical. Maybe it was a promotion they were able to do with specific retailers in various countries.
so there are workarounds.
Reasonable subsidy to me would be closer to 899 than 699, as I expect both Xbox and Sony to hit 1k plus, with 1.2k being my highest expectation.
The good thing for MS (and Sony) with GTA6 is that itâs not f2p so at the very least these new users will have to pay for online MP and that for Xbox may be a gateway to Game Pass.
It will be interesting to see how Asha will position the Series hardware in the market in the next months pre-GTA6. Curious to see if she will push hardware this fall since this is the best opportunity to do that or keep things as they are now and instead focus on Helix any hardware related push.
Lemme guess, quoting MLiD who is one of the worst sources out there as heâs admitted to making things up to make his audience happy before? If not him itâs KeplerL2 who isnât much better. The BOM doesnât account for anything outside of the parts in the machine itself, right? Doesnât account for shipping, the box, storage, anything.
If that is $760 then all together, theyâd be eating a serious amount of money anywhere near that.
Sheesh, I bought a PS5 Digital (Slim) a couple of years ago for âŹ399 and they threw in 12 months of Netflix. So basically âŹ160 for the console. The good old days when they were trying to pad the sales numbers, I guess.
So Xbox has also raised prices and not subsidize because Playstation is no longer competition, apparently.
Last gen by this time the consoles were $300 with a bundle of 1-3 games, and on black Friday $199 sometimes. We really didnât appreciate how good we had it ![]()
