I expect people getting their shot to interview her over at GDC.

All eyes will be on them for sure with this announcement just before the event!

The general reception has been fairly positive? At least from what I’ve seen. I think supporting PC games was always going to be a win, the ability to play almost every single non Nintendo and PS (now) is huge. Price and execution of UI and getting PC games to work like seamlessly Xbox games will be the big deciders.

The intense grilling by Blessing Adeoye should be illuminating!

Wonder what they will call it.

I actually like the name Xbox Helix, that logo has potential, although I think a comeback to the OG or 360 era in terms of looks and marketing could help with their image, especially if the Xbox console is front and center.

I hope Jon or Jez can get an interview with Jason, maybe some extra details on the hardware or tech.

Haters heads are exploding right now. Pc gaming so good but Xbox so bad. They aren’t sure to love or hate this.

Asha says Xbox and PC games and I already see people in other places speculating that this could mean it’s solely games from Microsoft’s own store. But obviously she wasn’t going to spill such big beans in a simple tweet. This stuff gets people talking, Xbox back in the discussion which is good.

There obviously is no way it’s only going to be from their own store, plus I recall Jez already having mentioned Steak and EGS and i don’t believe that was him just guessing. That alone is a game changer in my book.

I do wonder if it’s just going to have one mode or two modes. I recall earlier reports saying there would be Windows/PC mode and console mode. Interesting times ahead for sure, after all the downright weird shit happening too.

I believe she has the charm to attract audience with her products, which is probably why her first statement came off more enlightening even if it’s a PR speaking. Supposedly, she is good at marketing. If so, it’s most needed here.

That occurred to me as a possibility too. But it wouldn’t be too exciting because most games on the Windows store have console versions anyway right? I can only think of a couple games off the top of my head (Expeditions Rome, Forspoken) that are Windows only.

I’m pretty sure this will work just like the Xbox App which can see your Steam games. If they do the interface right all of your games will be organized in one place. Select a Steam game and the console does everything in the background and launches the game seamlessly. Xbox games will probably just be the PC version with Xbox settings that trigger when launched on an Xbox.

I’ve mostly seen ‘‘it’s a just a PC then’’ or some people carrying over their Microsoft hate and saying it will AI filled spying box.

There’s not really any valid points to hate it over yet.

I did make this awhile back.

Looking forward to seeing it, I’m sure it will be a beast.

“Non-Nintendo & PS”

If it can play ANY windows games then it will easily have access to emulators. People have already got Nintendo and PS games running on Series S dev mode consoles. It’s not even a clear “this is illegal” because emulation for games you own (especially those no longer playable by other means) is a gray area that companies don’t want to take to court. And otherwise unless you’re just a moron asking for trouble and trying to mass produce, sell, and publicly promote that you are selling the game then companies don’t go to the trouble to fight that… well Nintendo might. Just don’t get caught I guess. Also Playstation can’t un-port the games that are already on Steam.

Very curious what form of Windows this would run. I highly doubt it’s gonna be the same open OS where all kinds of piracy can happen. It will have to be locked down to some limits, only official storefronts, Steam, Epic, etc. and social/streaming apps.

I am excited to see what the future has in store for the next Xbox. I look forward to hearing more from Jason Ronald at GDC about how console and PC games will integrate into a seamless experience.

Buying Xbox play anywhere games seems to makes more sense now than ever!

I thought Tom Warren and Jez Corden already said it was going to be full windows with an optimized experience? With the ability to play Xbox games.

If I’m remembering correctly(Probably not) Jez mentioned Play Anywhere as being their sort of bridge/stopgap to next gen forward compatibility. So while we should be able to play all our owned Xbox games, we can also play the PC versions(which should become the default version going forward) with a profile that makes them as console like as possible.
