They made it sound like the leak is only about the people themselves. Those stuff most definitely not to be discussed. Those are awful. However, the leak brought the same amount of materials if not more that happened to other developers. Honestly, I don’t like leaks, but if you’re trying to be “fair,” then step into that zone again. Why start now? If you now doing this, there should be no more going forward. Part of me wants another leak from other studio just to test their loyalty, but it’s not only dumb of me but not worth of their worth.

It’s ok to harm Capcom, MS, Take 2… I think many of the so called journalist think by not reporting on it they have journalistic integrity. To have journalistic integrity is to report the news and not pick and choose. It’s like a doctor not helping a patient because he may not like that person.

Not even just that, but stuff like gamepass deals, acquisition targets, planned games and remasters, next gen target date, next gen hardware ideas, revised controller, and some other stuff. It’s interesting the press treated the leak as an E3 recap. Plus, they posted all of the details about the GTA 6 and Capcom leak. However, since this is Sony they’ve decided to get on their high horse about leaks. I think the only one I can respect this if the media decides not to post leaks in the future, but we know that won’t happen.

Just a heads up, due to being at work today and catching up the last few hours, this is arguably going to be one long massive post of replies. Apologies in advance.

Agreed. I was personally expecting Wolverine in 2025 but definitely appears to be late 2026 with the Venom standalone game in late 2025. Insomniac truly has become a Marvel factory. I must admit that im very interested in Venom, Wolverine, Spider Man 3, both X-Men games even though I don’t understand how they go from 1 to 3 and skip 2??? Plus, a new Ratchet and a new IP for next generation…you know if Sony and PlayStation are still kicking. lol
Yeah, let’s say Venom actually releases in late 2025 and Wolverine in late 2026, that’s 5 games in 6 years which is pretty damn good. Insomniac is by far Sony’s best studio and my personal favorite.
Gaming market is far bigger now than it was back then and PS2 sold mostly because it was the cheapest DVD player on the market for a certain amount of time which makes it being the best selling console even less impressive than it was before.
The discourse online will only get worse as the generation progresses. I have said this since Microsoft acquired Bethesda. It sure as hell won’t get better.

I don’t mind stand alone expansions especially when so many developers always require you to complete the base game in order to access the DLC/expansion which I hate because sometimes, I don’t have the save file and truly don’t want to replay the game.
As for the X-Men game, im not into co-op/multi-player whatsoever but it seems like they will make it a single player game but also have an online multi-player mode.

At this rate, im not expecting a Sony showcase until September 2025.

Technically, they’re already multi-platform. Can’t wait for Sony’s games to be day one on PC. I wonder if the small 5% that actually buys Sony’s bigger first party titles decide not to because they lost value by being on PC which requires several times the cost of a PlayStation 5. Hmmm.
Hahaha. I do believe that if one of the hardware manufacturers were to ever truly pull a Sega and go third party, it would be Sony because they don’t have the business structure or money that Microsoft has nor do they have the low budgets/high profits that Nintendo has.

If studios like BGS, Blizzard, the COD studios, 343, Ubisoft or other “controversial” studio experiences the same thing, I better see the same energy from the same media folks, but they won’t because they pick and choose what to like and dislike. If a studio they like gets hacked, they protect. If a studio they dislike gets hacked, make millions of articles about that studio, mocking them and their devs, calling them lazy, and how it’s their fault etc etc. Y’all know this is what’s gonna happen lol.

I know this is not what Tom meant, but that tweet really can be interpreted as “the level of importance of developer personal data is relative to what their relationship is with gaming journalists/personalities/whatever”. There’s something making my skin crawl seeing “They’re beloved developers that create awesome games, and there’s a very real emotional attachment to that and a desire from many to not harm them” as if this didn’t happen to Capcom who is also beloved. It feels like he’s silently admitting that nobody (in the games media) cared because they aren’t from California. Nobody “felt a desire to not harm” them.
Just seems like he’s word souping his way out of saying “Insomniac is more important. Why? They just are.”

Personally, the Xbox leak didnt bother me in the slightest. A slim Series X and a revised controller is seldom earth shattering.
Now Dishonored 3 and Doom Year Zero excited me. But apparently neither are happening yet

I remember when CD Projekt had all their assets leaked game engine, source code it was widely reported, yet you can’t talk about Insomniac.
I feel for the game developers I truly do, yet this is newsworthy and like it or not you do need to report on it.
I’m not advocating for personal information being leaked or game assets, but you need to keep informed on what is going on.

My problem( and a big one at that) is that why all this conversation about devs and their safety and morale etc. is just coming to light now? Where were this during the GTA VI leaks? Capcom? He’ll even Xbox( even if it’s self inflicted). But since it happened to insomniac now, they speak out? I keep seeing online about how they feel sorry for Insomniac and it shouldn’t happen to anyone( and I agree) but before this, they were having a field day with leaks. Where were this when it happened to other studios? Just because it’s insomniac, one of the industry “babies”, that the conversation suddenly just shift?
