They made it sound like the leak is only about the people themselves. Those stuff most definitely not to be discussed. Those are awful. However, the leak brought the same amount of materials if not more that happened to other developers. Honestly, I don’t like leaks, but if you’re trying to be “fair,” then step into that zone again. Why start now? If you now doing this, there should be no more going forward. Part of me wants another leak from other studio just to test their loyalty, but it’s not only dumb of me but not worth of their worth.
Mr Warren seems like an ok person but this really bothers me “a desire from many to not harm them.”
It’s ok to harm Capcom, MS, Take 2… I think many of the so called journalist think by not reporting on it they have journalistic integrity. To have journalistic integrity is to report the news and not pick and choose. It’s like a doctor not helping a patient because he may not like that person.
not surprised seeing Tom acts the same way as Greg. this is the same guy who complained on a verge article regarding Mat Booty’s comment about supporting Xbox One 1-2 years after the Series launch while being silent when Jim Ryan suddenly announced the PS4 port of MM right before release.
I bet journalist is pissed at Sony to screw up this bad that they left with some Mass Effect choice level and renegade choice is to ignore.
Trying to cover up leaks will just have the opposite effect honestly.
Not even just that, but stuff like gamepass deals, acquisition targets, planned games and remasters, next gen target date, next gen hardware ideas, revised controller, and some other stuff. It’s interesting the press treated the leak as an E3 recap. Plus, they posted all of the details about the GTA 6 and Capcom leak. However, since this is Sony they’ve decided to get on their high horse about leaks. I think the only one I can respect this if the media decides not to post leaks in the future, but we know that won’t happen.
Yeah, I see what he’s getting at and sure, journalists are human beings not robots. But like… basically just coming right out and saying that journalists are out here soft-pedaling when it’s their buddies. Leaves a bit of a bad taste in the mouth.
Someone on Installbase found Sony’s PC budgets as of 2023

Venom also had this:
It seems those thinking SONY is stopping its PC initiative are in for rude awakening.
Fucking ridiculous.
I would have respected those who choose not to report on the leaks more if they weren’t dancing with joy to report previous leaks.
Just a heads up, due to being at work today and catching up the last few hours, this is arguably going to be one long massive post of replies. Apologies in advance. ![]()
Yeah, even the low end is insane. It’s why so many including me and Microsoft prefers their way of acquiring IP because ownership is king. It’s funny, you would think that this would be PlayStation fanboys way too because don’t they always complain about ownership? Hehehe
Come on…give me that sweet day one release on PC. I want to see the PlayStation fanboys go nuts. lol
Agreed. I was personally expecting Wolverine in 2025 but definitely appears to be late 2026 with the Venom standalone game in late 2025. Insomniac truly has become a Marvel factory. I must admit that im very interested in Venom, Wolverine, Spider Man 3, both X-Men games even though I don’t understand how they go from 1 to 3 and skip 2??? Plus, a new Ratchet and a new IP for next generation…you know if Sony and PlayStation are still kicking. lol
Yeah, let’s say Venom actually releases in late 2025 and Wolverine in late 2026, that’s 5 games in 6 years which is pretty damn good. Insomniac is by far Sony’s best studio and my personal favorite.
Gaming market is far bigger now than it was back then and PS2 sold mostly because it was the cheapest DVD player on the market for a certain amount of time which makes it being the best selling console even less impressive than it was before.
The discourse online will only get worse as the generation progresses. I have said this since Microsoft acquired Bethesda. It sure as hell won’t get better.
That document truly stands out and it’s amazing how long it’s taking Sony to realize how the industry was going. SMH.
And Microsoft is far from done. Hell, it’s not even the end of the beginning.
With all this stuff going on since the summer of 2020, I wonder to myself, WHAT IF Sony didn’t try to get Starfield as a timed console exclusive? Would Microsoft have still gone after and acquired Bethesda? Would they have gone after ABK? Instead of just shooting themselves in the foot, it’s like Sony was using a shotgun and ended up shooting off their limbs instead. lol
I don’t mind stand alone expansions especially when so many developers always require you to complete the base game in order to access the DLC/expansion which I hate because sometimes, I don’t have the save file and truly don’t want to replay the game.
As for the X-Men game, im not into co-op/multi-player whatsoever but it seems like they will make it a single player game but also have an online multi-player mode.
Me too!!!
In all honesty, I don’t give two shits about mobile gaming or online co-op/multi-player games but the more revenue and profit Microsoft makes, the more I will get out of them in regards to what I want and prefer so works out great for all parties. Well, except Sony but oh well.
Same here.
Well, in reality, they don’t buy shit. They only like to act that they do when it’s actually others that do. Hell, I have bought 5 Sony first party games and Ronin will be 6 in just over 3 years. I’m pretty sure that despite Xbox Series X being my primary gaming console that I have bought more Sony published games than the vast majority of their extremist fan base which is sad but also very funny. lmao
For me, im day one for Ronin (yay!!! it’s NOT a souls game and has difficulty levels!!!) and possibly Stellar Blade (must have difficulty levels or it’s a no-go). I may end up buying more third party exclusives (Granblue Fantasy Relink and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth) than Sony first party exclusives. lol
LMFAO!!! I like how you said that this leak “should correct everyone’s perception” when we both know, that’s not freaking happening whatsoever. Sony could file bankruptcy and the PlayStation fanboys would say, “don’t worry, they’re just on a hiatus”. lmao
More like crack cocaine than a sugar rush but close enough. lol
First party wise, meaning published by Sony - Helldivers 2 and Rise of the Ronin have a release date while Stellar Blade is expected to release in 2024.
Third party publisher wise, im sure there’s others but the two main standouts for me are Granblue Fantasy Relink and of course, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
At this rate, im not expecting a Sony showcase until September 2025.
Yeah, ever since those emails came out where Booty said that he wants to outspend Sony out of business, I have liked him a lot more than I did before. But…wait, isn’t Sony doing this themselves??? lol
This is hilarious. I have been saying for years that their business model is old, outdated and obsolete. If a nobody like me can see this shit, how can all the suits and whatnot at Sony NOT see this shit? Oh well. Great to know that Sony considers themselves to be second fiddle in regards to what matters most - the games. Hehe.
Very well said and I agree.
All of these mother fuckers reported on the Suicide Squad leaks, the Nvidia leaks, the Capcom leak, the Rockstar GTA 6 leak and of course, all the Microsoft related stuff but yet they can’t report on the Sony/Insomniac stuff. Gee, I wonder why.
They all can easily report on everything excluding any personal data that gets leaked but nope, they can’t even do that. What a load of bull shit!!
This. Someone posted an image online of a Sony security door and it was locked with a cheeto puff. I couldn’t stop laughing not just because it’s funny but because it’s actually true. Sony’s security is trash.
Technically, they’re already multi-platform. Can’t wait for Sony’s games to be day one on PC. I wonder if the small 5% that actually buys Sony’s bigger first party titles decide not to because they lost value by being on PC which requires several times the cost of a PlayStation 5. Hmmm.
Hahaha. I do believe that if one of the hardware manufacturers were to ever truly pull a Sega and go third party, it would be Sony because they don’t have the business structure or money that Microsoft has nor do they have the low budgets/high profits that Nintendo has.
Agreed and very well said.
Agreed and very well said.
Wolverine is X-men 1…odds are the game will end with him joining up.
Wolverine 2 is X-men .
Hence X-men ³ is X-men 3
If studios like BGS, Blizzard, the COD studios, 343, Ubisoft or other “controversial” studio experiences the same thing, I better see the same energy from the same media folks, but they won’t because they pick and choose what to like and dislike. If a studio they like gets hacked, they protect. If a studio they dislike gets hacked, make millions of articles about that studio, mocking them and their devs, calling them lazy, and how it’s their fault etc etc. Y’all know this is what’s gonna happen lol.
Yup. That’s the difference between “should” and “will”. We both know those deep in the following will always ignore reality. It’s those not that deep in, like the typical gamer, that have a chance of seeing through the distortion fields.
I know this is not what Tom meant, but that tweet really can be interpreted as “the level of importance of developer personal data is relative to what their relationship is with gaming journalists/personalities/whatever”. There’s something making my skin crawl seeing “They’re beloved developers that create awesome games, and there’s a very real emotional attachment to that and a desire from many to not harm them” as if this didn’t happen to Capcom who is also beloved. It feels like he’s silently admitting that nobody (in the games media) cared because they aren’t from California. Nobody “felt a desire to not harm” them.
Just seems like he’s word souping his way out of saying “Insomniac is more important. Why? They just are.”
This tweet is so bad and gross. I don’t know if that’s how he sees Insomniac, or just him projecting what he’s getting from his peers, but whatever the case it’s yikes and quite telling about the SanFran bubble. Should’ve deleted it already and reworded it.
of course not, lol.
But why is nobody of these journalists media figures understanding that the internet never forgets? They absolutely will be roasted over their cover of the next leak.
Personally, the Xbox leak didnt bother me in the slightest. A slim Series X and a revised controller is seldom earth shattering.
Now Dishonored 3 and Doom Year Zero excited me. But apparently neither are happening yet
I remember when CD Projekt had all their assets leaked game engine, source code it was widely reported, yet you can’t talk about Insomniac.
I feel for the game developers I truly do, yet this is newsworthy and like it or not you do need to report on it.
I’m not advocating for personal information being leaked or game assets, but you need to keep informed on what is going on.
My problem( and a big one at that) is that why all this conversation about devs and their safety and morale etc. is just coming to light now? Where were this during the GTA VI leaks? Capcom? He’ll even Xbox( even if it’s self inflicted). But since it happened to insomniac now, they speak out? I keep seeing online about how they feel sorry for Insomniac and it shouldn’t happen to anyone( and I agree) but before this, they were having a field day with leaks. Where were this when it happened to other studios? Just because it’s insomniac, one of the industry “babies”, that the conversation suddenly just shift?
