I understand the sentiment from Tom and a lot of others, but the reality is that the Game Awards are a marketing vehicle designed to not only sell games, but the industry itself. Having a big event that brings in stars from other mediums to be a part of this show should help in securing investments for projects big and small and will help grow the industry which will hopefully lead to more jobs. I’m sure there’s a bit of naive optimism in my post, but I don’t like the immediate “Yeah, I know you were having fun, but here’s why you should feel guilty about it” posts right after the show.
Like, just let people have a moment that isn’t covered in shit.
I guess the problem stem from the fact Geoff made note on Kojima back then when he couldn’t attend, so it’s like “you addressed something negative that happened in real life, why not for those developers as well.”
While true, I tend to do separate art from artist approach with tweets, so despite him being that guy, the point I can understand. So I tend to share with you guys to see what you think.
