It was certainly the one I was most surprised to see, and I’m with you in terms of looking forward to it. I was gonna say the first one was one of my favourite Xbox Live Arcade titles, but Xbox isn’t listed as one of the platforms it came out on… So now I’m not sure where I played it. Maybe Android? Weird.
Anyway, I’ll likely give this a shot when it releases. Crossing my fingers for Game Pass.
Yeah, it was a great show. I felt like the pacing was pretty good too. There was a lull in the back third or so, you can even spot the moment in this thread, but overall I really enjoyed it from both a production perspective and a game announcement perspective.
They should just call it winter gamefest at this point because it’s crazy how little respect the show actually shows developers. The GOTY speech had to be cut short and so many others. It might not be popular to say here, but why the heck did we get a Starfield commerical instead of giving time for devs for speeches. Also, same goes for how he didn’t rush Kojima because they’re friends, but rushed actual winners. Plus, we didn’t need to have muppets and some of the other commercial stuff.
Anyways, great games were shown, but an awful award show
I’m not surprised with the lack of showing devs and awards being accepted. This has always been tending towards a showcase with awards thrown in. But when awards are screwed up and so poorly define it always cracks me up that people always use these award show to be the definitive award show because number of views.
The reason for high number of views is the trailers not the awards. It’s also the reason they don’t do it early in the year so it has a define cut off date being you know the year in question. Instead it is a device to drive ads to viewers before the holiday season. It’s the reason i don’t hold these awards as the end all be all. I give more credibility to the dice awards.
I love seeing people complain about aspects of the Game Awards as if it hasn’t been this way since its inception. Complaining about the lack of time given to awardees when half of the awards don’t even get acceptance speeches is amusing. I’m not saying people shouldn’t do it, but at least acknowledge the underlying issue first.
