Right move. 80$ is a price tag for the big marque titles, MK World, CoD, GTA, not this.
good move
I think the years worth of YouTuber essayists tearing down the first game will probably have a bigger effect on sales than the price tag, but not gonna complain about a lower price tag.
Guessing that might be thread worthy as that’s pretty big news - doubt Xbox will get any credit for listening, but it’s very much in comparison with Nintendo who would tell users to get a second job or fuck off lol.
EDIT: Wonder if the UK and EU will get a price cut too? Still showing as £69.99 in the UK which I think was the previous price… Maybe I’m remembering wrong?

Jesse is writing it up right now. So far, only MKW is the only game and it appears we won’t know who else as well. Maybe the data found to be concerning. Plus, rumor has it that BF6 is going to be announced to be only $70. Perhaps it’s too early on that regard and we don’t know if there will be more.

Sadly not.
Oh wait, 80 euros actually is a “normal” price. Since games were said to be 90 euros here in Europe.

I am not familiar with euro currency.

90€ is actually price for physical MKW. Digital is 80€. Despite TOW2 being announced at $80, it stayed at 80€, but I can imagine some people were thinking it was going to be 90€.
Sadly not.

TOW2 prices on Xbox.com are live, $70 ≈70€.
Has dropped to £59.99 in the UK from £69.99
Game Pass upgrade is still £29.99 which is fair - usually what I buy so I can play early and get the DLC
Once again, we have another example of Xbox adapting to feedback and what does the media do? Take potshots and distract from the fact that Nintendo raised their prices first (hilariously, where physical now costs more than digital counterparts) and continue to stick to their shitty policies. It sure would be nice to live in a world of equal accountability… but that would hurt ad revenue.
Saw this on Bluesky, and the majority of responses were dopes dunking on Obsidian/Xbox for doing it and then claiming they weren’t going to buy it anyways. You can never win with these people.

Forget them and that’s putting it mildly.

Looking up Mario Kart World on Best Buy for Physical and the Nintendo for digital, the price is the same - $80. Neither one is cheaper from what I can see.

The higher cartridge price is in Europe, I believe.

Oh wow, that’s kinda unique and unusual because most of the time a game that costs 70 or 80 euro here is 60 or 70 dollars in US. But that’s nice.

$1≈$1+VAT≈1€ was pretty normal since I started console gaming. I presume in last 2-3 years there was a period of bigger exchange rate or other economical uncertainty (like COVID lockdowns finally being paid off, etc) and some publishers diverged in pricing, which was actually anomalous, but for MS, when looking at SteamCharts, it seems they only did that pricing for Flight Sim 2024.
That being said, I’m bullish on $1≈1€ applying to RXA(X) as well.
