We Are Xbox - Asha Sharma And Matt Booty's Message To The Teams (Xbox Wire)

I wonder if they’ll retire series s in this scenario . Cross-gen is going to last for a long period, so no point abandoning series x imo

I don’t think there’s a reason to do so because it’s still the cheapest entry to this generation plus with Switch 2, Deck and the rest of the PC portable systems being popular now Series S won’t have a problem running the latest games for the foreseeable future. Maybe the less RAM of the Series S will turn out a positive thing in the end with a potential flexibility in the pricing of that system and all.

If they lower the Series X price they might say it’s not needed

To me that phrase doesn’t mean much when it’s written just a bit after the “We will go where the people play” or that their nº1 strategy is getting as many MAU as possible, again not compatible with exclusivity even if it’s partial.

It could have been a totally different story if they said that under the “Content” part and they didn’t mention that famous Phil quote about going where players are etc.

To me it sounded like a longer more eloquent way of saying, “we’ll decide on a case by case basis.” (as in they’ll keep doing what they currently are). If they think a game is more valuable as an exclusive or timed exclusive then they’ll do that; if they think it’s better multiplatform day one then they’ll do that. It’s not like Xbox has completely abandoned exclusives currently. Double Fine’s Kiln is on everything but switch at launch, but Keeper is only PC + Xbox. Those are similar sized games from the same developer with the only real difference being that one is online multiplayer. Even Forza Horizon 6 will technically be a timed exclusive (I think they’ll also just consider the cost to port and if a studio is experienced with supported PS and/or Nintendo Switch).

So are they saying acquisitions are back on the table. It sounds like she is being allowed to play with a lot of money. I guess that 30 percent return is really gone.

Xbox is trending and many outlets that hardly cover games unless major title like GTA are reporting the news and some is now reporting GPU price cut. We are so back.

Hilarious to see my mayor to be against it, but that’s a topic for another thread.

Two months in and she has been proving the naysayers wrong. Next two months will be important as the biggest time for gaming is coming.

Lol I saw this on a Latin American facebook group :sob:

This ad brought so many memories of Xbox from the early 2010s, if just for a brief moment, it has been fun having her as Xbox’s CEO, keep it up

I’d love to see something like Nagoshi Studio, but that’s probably a pipe dream.

I can’t wait to see what’s next in store for Xbox! The future looks brighter than it did just months ago.

This is all very exciting news, but I’m left wondering what Xbox was doing under Phil and Sarah last gen, they seemed so lethargic, slow, passive, always trying to explain why things aren’t working instead of fixing them etc… After the acquisition of ABK everything just stood still.

Being stuck with high margin targets and told to maintain instead of grow by Phil’s bosses, while pushing GP subs (without consoles), Cloud (too early), and a mobile store no one wants.

But the only quote we got from Satya was “let’s have competition” and then they proceeded to do the opposite. Microsoft’s business in other areas was booming they could easily offset Xbox and let them “compete”, just plain stupid what they ended up doing. MS started clearing 30B profits every quarter in that period and still couldn’t be bothered to let Xbox stay separate but now they’ve suddenly been enlightened. Better late than never, I guess.

MS for me is never the type of company to say maintain.
