No Banjo out of 10
Every event I’m hyped for something new involving the bird and bear and every event I’m left sad. Hopefully Battletoads is a Smash hit and we see Banjo with Playtonic next.
Fully agree. People were clamoring that they should show games even if they were CGi fests and a couple of years out to get fans excited. But when they did people complained. Literally can’t win for losing.
In either case, I’d give the show an 8/10. I certainly wouldn’t call that average. A bit above average, honestly. I very much enjoyed the show. There were a couple I didn’t care for but overall, it was grand. Crazy to think every game I wanted will be on Gamepass day and date. That’s hella dope IMO. Xbox has games!

I thought it was well put together, good pacing and the show itself felt fun to watch, but I did vote just “ok 8/10” due to the lack of gameplay. If they had been able to show gameplay from more games I’d have raised it some.
I did love the variety and so many games being different during the showcase though. I do wish we could have seen some more big 3rd party games, but I get what they were going for in this showcase with it being 100% gamepass showing.
I was underwhelmed, as the show hinged on Halo being a knockout for me. It’s one of my all-time favourite series, launching on a new console billed as the most powerful, plus the Slipspace engine trailer from a couple years ago looked amazing. Whilst the footage in the Pelican looked on par with what we saw E3 2019, the outdoor sections was lacking in that next-gen shine we were expecting. However, it looks great fun to play and the shift to a semi-open world is very exciting, they really should have shown some of that in the trailer.
Other than that, the show was pretty good, just not enough gameplay or general dates on things. I loved the Everwild trailer and hope that it contains little to no violence. SoD3 being announced with a cool CGI trailer, hinting at zombie animals. Avowed being an exclusive Skyrim type game, yes please! Fable being announced and clearly showing it’ll have the humour and fantasy styling of the old games. Forza looks amazing, just wish they’d shown a little bit of a proper lap in play.
Overall, I’d say it was a 7/10.
8/10 Because it wasn’t what i expected. I was hoping for ‘on XSX’ titled gameplay footage. Even Halo wasn’t it.
10/10 Because of Gamepass announcements.
I also think gamepass was the actual focus of that show and they simply used Halo as a bait.
Exactly… If they only would have showed some Hellblade 2 gameplay it would have been a 8 for me.
Showcase was very good for me as a Xbox fan, i enjoyed a lot of announcements and loved being surprised by State of Decay 3 so early.
But i think MS focused on Xbox fans instead of new public, leaving out a lot of good stuff that could bring more hype to Series X. That’s why people “outside the brand” didn’t liked. It was amazing if you’re already a fan of Xbox, but not so good if you’re out of Xbox fanbasem and don’t know/don’t hype stuff like Fable, Forza and etc.

It was good, but nothing amazing. I did like the fact that they showed what many of the first-party studios are working on even if it was CGI.
The lack of gameplay definitely brought the show down.
I’m one of those weirdos who loves both versions of Halo. I’m replaying through the Classic Bungie Halos now and they hold up incredibly well. Better than any other “old game” IMO. I’ve put 2000+ hours into Halo 5 multiplayer.
The problem with 343s Halo campaigns wasn’t the movement. What they missed from the classics was the understanding of sandbox. There was very little thought or strategy to play 343s games on Legendary. Beating checkpoints was pretty straight forward in terms of what you should do and which weapons were best.
So after recovering from my disappointment of the graphics and watching the video multiple times, was pretty excited about the potential of Infinite’s sandbox.
I was disappointed because Microsoft had been making statements about ‘mic drop’ moments, and after the show all I could think about was : If I sat down with a member of the Xbox team, would they be able to tell me which items were mic drop moments? Avowed maybe? To me, a mic drop moment would have been announcing the WB acquisition, that Harry Potter would be an Xbox exclusive, acquisition of Konami, a new Perfect Dark game with unprecedented graphics… not Psychonauts 2
Actually that was not something anyone who worked at Microsoft said. Was born from a forum rumor that gained momentum.

I think it was average. In retrospect I shouldn’t have expected much more, especially since I’m sure Covid has put some restrictions and delayed some time tables. A little more gameplay would have done it for me, or something unexpected. But given their scope of “everything here will be day one gamepass”, that does narrow their scope and ability to showcase games, But that is a self-inflicted wound in some ways-they should have labeled it as a gamepass showcase, not a Series X showcase. For a company that has been bragging about the specs, 12 tf etc, I wish at least one game WOWED me.
There was plenty of gameplay shown compared to Sony’s as a percentage, but that was only because Halo had such a long gameplay segment shown. I wish there was some more Avowed or Fable gameplay. And am I the only that misses Jade Empire? I know that was Bioware, but damn Microsoft if you can, bring that one back! We need some story big budget games to go along with all the Gaas titles imo
No, Jade Empire is amazing and deserves a full remake.

The content is there but the gameplay is missing. I was expecting some next gen gameplay.

I think almost all the games they showed are ones I want to play (and all on Game Pass!) but I think the show was lacking a huge “wow” moment in terms of graphics. I was hoping Hellblade 2 would be that but it wasn’t shown at all and near the end I was hoping Fable would be that but it was just a CG trailer.
Everwild was the biggest wow moment for me but I need to know if that’s actual gameplay footage. If it is then I’m blown away by what they showed because it looked absolutely gorgeous.
Not gameplay but Everwild was real time. Between Rare’s talent and it being a Series X exclusive, I have faith it’ll be a stunner.

I loved it. Really interesting stuff throughout. Cool surprises like SoD3 and Avowed. And ending with Fable… I was overjoyed.
8/10 sounds about right but that being the “average/it was ok” option made it not sound good enough… so 10/10 from me on this poll at least
