Xbox Acquisition |OT5| Talking Exclusively About Xbox Acquisitions

No. More. Publishers.

I’m not sure XboxERA is gonna survive this one, let alone if Microsoft gets another one and makes it multiplatform again.

If it’s a Japanese publisher, I highly feel they will remain multiplat. At least with Switch.

That’d be a weird mishmash of rules though. One publisher is now exclusive (Bethesda), one is multiplat-ish (Activision), and one, under my “vision” anyway, is “semi-multiplat”.

At that point they should just make everything multiplatform. It’s so confusing having XGS and Bethesda exclusive while Activision is multi.

Maybe not exactly the projects you have in mind there :phil_lmao: but I’m pretty sure there would be nothing stopping Xbox from getting some exclusive content from ActiBlizz outside of the “popular” titles still. Especially Activision, when they eventually lean themselves and detach more studios from CoD, while CoD could still be a multiplatform title, those other studios should be free to work on non-CoD games, those I say could/should/would be Xbox exclusives.

Well the other thread is open…

Best to move the discussion back in there.

Fair warning, you best not be startin’ shit :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Is Mojang confusing?

I agree - I get that Mojang was purchased around the expectation that they’d stay on everything and this was before Xbox even began with the vision of what it is now.

Picking and choosing what is and isn’t multiplatform is bullshit for the current XGS and Bethesda teams.

Here here.

It’s raises too many questions both in the media and within XGS + Bethesda.

do not worry XboxERA will survive , Because they are minority and outside of that no one cares

Call of Duty has been multi-platform since xbox 360 and Microsoft was able through marketing to make 360 the best platform to play Call of Duty and they will be able to do it again with XSX

Let’s not deceive ourselves and let our emotions control us and make us think we understand more than a company with financial experts who have a long plan

If Microsoft can get another huge publisher on the condition that they make their games on all platforms I don’t have a problem . Because the future is Game pass And that’s what I care about

The thread was closed before I could voice my opinion on the new we got today do here I go:

  1. I am disappointed at the news, because I feel it will slow Xbox’s growth in the future. Specially because like Krobrille said, they’re not the biggest player in gaming.

  2. I can understand that the revenue lost from making all future ABK games exclusive would have been large. But the fact of the matter they will have to lose revenue because CoD can’t continue the way it is if Xbox ever wants to actually to use the IPs and teams that they will purchase. Just freeing a couple of teams to do something else will cause delays, that will force CoD away from its yearly launch, and they will never be able to hire quick enough to fill those positions to keep CoD running(and yes I understand that CoD isn’t the only thing making money, but it sure as heck is the one making a lot of it, completely forgot about Candy Crush again.).

  3. I also understand or think I do, why they decided to make those consessions in the first place. In my head they’re doing so to set a presedent, for the FTC and DOJ to use in their fights against big tech like Apple, Google, Amazon etcetera. It’s admirable in someway, but I don’t yet understand what Microsoft gains from doing so beyond being on the FTC’s side, and maybe being able to put their own store in the app stores in the future and that’s a big maybe.

  4. Whatever the Xbox team is going to do I wish them luck, because game “journalist” are going to make the click extra baity and console warring extra super.

ms could also keep all abk games multiplatform:

-time exclusive xbox-pc of 2 months compared to playstation also for dlc

  • day one game pass

has already won; playstation can play it 2 months later at 80 euros…

The historic merger comes as regulators worldwide are rethinking how to apply competition laws to the digital world. Just a few years ago, the Activision Blizzard deal would not have attracted much scrutiny, Smith said, who added that the acquisition will make Microsoft the third largest game publisher in the world after Tencent and Sony.

“Regulators don’t typically get all that concerned about a company becoming number three,” Smith said. “But we’re not in the world of 2018 or 2019, it’s 2022. And we recognize there will be more scrutiny of any large acquisition that is being made by a large tech company. So I think that it really behooves us to step forward quickly and proactively and be very transparent about how we will manage this business, with a clear eye toward the competition law issues and responsibilities that we have.”

Last week, Microsoft filed formal paperwork with the Federal Trade Commission to kickstart the merger review process, and has delivered an initial briefing to FTC staff, Smith said.

here how i see it XGS Studios(under XGS Banner) are xbox exclusives maker.

Zenimax and Activition or any publishers MS will acquire there is chance they might stay/change as/to 3P publisher but under MS.

without an asian publisher in asia they won’t make it

and you need someone to fill the gaps of genres in the gamepass

if not paradox will be sega

if not capcom it will be bandai or square enix

do you think they won’t give it a try if the opportunity arises for Warner games, valve, take two?

I wonder if they acquired enough studios if they would just consider making another publishing branch. Like if they got Crystal Dynamics, Eidos, IO Interactive, NetherRealm, Asobo, Avalanche, Tripwire Interactive and Stoic Studio if that would be a little too much to add into XGS as it stands and create something like Xbox Interactive Entertainment (XIE) or some other name if someone thinks of something better and not just a copycat of Sony’s name xD

hopefully this will speed up whole thing and deal go through at the end of year or earlier.
