Catching up before I fly out in the morning for my big three week trip.
+1 Dredge
I loved this game so much that I bought all the DLC for it because I didn’t want it to end. Then I put off completing it because I didn’t want it to be over. I can’t really express my love for this game adequately. It’s on game pass, do yourself a favor and play it.
+1 Dredge DLCs
The first DLC, Pale Reach, is your typical “more of the same” DLC that adds a new area with new fish requiring new equipment. It’s on the short side, but was exactly what I wanted at the time, more of this great game. The second DLC, The Rig, is a larger expansion with a great story, ship upgrades, fish, their required equipment, and requires that you revisit each of the main areas of the main game. It feels like a good farewell to game that engrossed me for so long.
-1 American Arcadia
I could have sworn this game wax announced for game pass but it was never added. I waited for the inevitable 50% off or more sale, then pounced. It’s basically The Truman Show, but in video game form. It’s made by an indie dev that I enjoyed their previous work, so I expect to enjoy this as well.
-1 Shady Part of Me
I know it was on game pass, but it left sooner than I could finish it. I enjoyed playing the first part of the game and wanted to see it through. For $3, why not pick it up? It’s a puzzle game involving light and shadows, kinda like Contrast, which I have also enjoyed on game pass.
Amazing, nostalgic experience. Can’t wait to finish all the achievements and claim the 1000!
Question for the group - When I play the Yuffie DLC will that count as another 0.5? Or not because it was included in the Xbox release instead of a separate purchase?
Glad you liked it. I’ve beaten it twice and am on my third play now (third platform as well, don’t ask lol). I still prefer the original by far, but I greatly appreciate some elements of the remake and am ultimately glad it exists - the audio is stellar, both in the orchestrated remade music and in the incredible voice cast (both in English and Japanese).
My favorite Superman plays Sepiroth, and that alone makes it special for me
Edit: Tyler Hoechlin plays Sephiroth in the English dub, to give a proper nod to the man
Also, Tifa is voiced by Spartan Linda. I could go on, the English dub is full of a perfect crew of actors.
Had played a lot of it in the past, but never actually finished it. The section with the birds dropping imps (or whatever they are) and the clocktower section can eat my whole ass.
Played and finished this on Xbox a couple of years ago on GP. Bought the complete version on Steam for £6 on the Steam Winter Sale. Excellent game for when you want to chill and smash some zombie heads in, especially when you’ve got a bunch of health issues going on and don’t want to think about much. Looks stunning, plays amazingly and the story is half decent for a zombie killing simulator.
Great setting, interesting story and nice visuals. Yet for some reason I just never really connected with it. Gameplay wise it’s extremely thin, more like a walking simulator with very, very light detective elements that got old a bit too fast. I had hoped to like it more, but alas. Can’t have it all. Still …
